While it may seem like a completely stupid question, because it probably is. But is the story corner restricted to TES or Fallout related works?

I have been swayed into writing a short story just to show off my skills by a certain member of your community, but as I have an ongoing project of my own it feels really strange to use characters other than the ones i have created for my book, characters that I somehow feel a very deep bond with. So I would love to write a small little thing featuring them and the workd they live in. Would that be a problem?

So it wouldn't be TES or Fallout related? I wouldn't post it on this site, but if you have it posted elsewhere you can open a discussion and link us to it.

That should work. Although I have to say that I found another idea between now and when I posted the last message. Ever heard of the short story known as "Cauchemar en Jaune" or Yellow nightmare? I don't have any clue how it is called in English (the title I gave is in french by the way). I'm thinking of making a skyrim version of it.

If you Skyrim-ize a story, feel free to share it here! If it's purely original, like Okan said, the best way to go is posting a general forums discussion with a link to it off site.

Thanks for the help Borom and Okan, I'll try to work on it sometime soon-ish. Hope you like it!

So for those of you following my dilemma over To Blog or Not To Blog. I've decided to write a story blog. One issue I've come across is that I haven't ever gone to the dark side of Skyrim. Necromancy to be specific. Unfortunately that is one of my opening scenes. I'll give you a cut n' paste version of my scene layout.

The air was stale, thick with a cool dampness. There was no natural light that could penetrate the thick chamber walls but there was nothing that could keep these particular magics out. The brazers lit with a flourish of flame and a rush of light swept through the stone croft. A dull blue life crept across the floor spreading out like a fog as it seeped into the lifeless. Their eyes - a glowing blue - opened once again and the seals were broken on the tombs as the each of the decorated stone covers fell away to the floor with a bang. Strings of matted hair lay pasted to the boney flesh of their long faces, scarred by time. Their complexion was a pallid gray. Their words they spoke were of the old tongue and came unintelligible through their gaping maws. But they knew what to do just the same.

So here the scene is set. With the return of Alduin, so comes the return of the Dragon Magics to Skyrim. The Dragon Priest Acolytes have been awakened from their slumber to serve their old masters and the first thing they must do is perform rituals to resurrect the Dragon Priests they serve.

And here in lies my issue. How to write a resurrection ritual being performed by drauger who speak the old tongue and are, for the most part, aggressive reanimations themselves?

I'll take any advice I can get. All I know so far is that there are urns and embalming tools at my disposal. Unfortunately I haven't discovered a blood bank in my travels that the drauger could utilize.

    Thanks in advance,

    Lucid.

The fort Forelhost comes to mind with this. There are numerouse Dragon priest spirits and other manners of undead there. Such a place might contain the sourse of power. The ghost priests could perform the ritual after all they can speak. The draugr could just be used as vessles for the energies. There's a word wall there as well.

I don't know if that helps but I would look there for the opening scene.

That location could definitely work Sotek. Thank you for the advise. It is also the resting place of Dragon Priest Rahgot which works well with the purpose of the awakening of the drauger.

Your more than welcome. It's also quite a sinister place as there were mass suicides there as well.

Let me know how you progress.

I've written a few chapters and flushed out a few ideas for which way certain characters are headed after the opening scene. I'm hoping to get some real good content written before I release anything so I can continue to keep my story from dying while I write future chapters. I hope you'll enjoy this story as it ranges across multiple characters and many events that happen symultainiously across Tamriel. For every action there is a reaction.
