This is open to everyone and all suggestions would be welcome.

Sotek, the central character to my story has a unique ability. When he enters a deep meditation he can enter Hircines hunting grounds as a wolf. This is a mixed blessing as his body is vulnerable, along similar lines to the story of John Carter. The other down side is that if someone inadvertantly meditates near him, Sotek pulls them along for the ride as well.  In my story it's Aela who ends up on the hunting grounds with him.

My problem is this. If Sotek and Aela are in wolf forms in the Hunting grounds then how would they comunicate with each other and other wolves there? I'm initialy thinking a sort of telepathic conversation althghough it would be of a close proximity. The other way would be barks and growles but then I'll have the problem of comunicating their speech to the reader. I tried just basic speach but it seems to lose something using that methord.

My apologies for this being somewhat long winded but I wanted to give as much inofrmation as I could.

Any ideas or suggestions as to how I could handle the conversations? There is roughly around 8-9 characters in the hunting grounds.

Hi, what is the character limit for blog posts? I have a story thread on the steam forum, but I was also thinking of posting it here. I know steam posts have a 1000 character limit and I am frequently splitting the entries.

Thank you in advance for any replies. I look forward to posting the tale, if it indeed will fit. It is rather lengthy.

Hey Lissette! There isn't generally a word limit to posts. We only ask that posts contain 500 words minimum. Some of my longest posts come to about 5000+ words.

How long is yours? If you think it's going to be really, really long I'd recommend posting it as multiple entries. I did this for a short story I posted that clocked at 13k.

Hi! Thanks for the quick reply. This is encouraging news.

Well, as of now, it's over 700 hundred pages of Word document, divided into close to 27 chapters. When I post them in the Steam forum in my thread, it's usually labeled by the day I'm covering in the narrative, but knowing that 5000 characters isn't unusual is nice to know. I don't have to split things up so much, though I will still split them into entries, otherwise people's eyes will probably bleed.

I'd link to the thread in question, but not sure if we can do that here. I'm Skyrimnut over at Steam.

Oh, and what's the policy on language? It is nothing terrible, but some four letter words that start with "s" appear. They are blotted out in Steam. If you have a swear filter, that doesn't bother me. People usually know what I'm implying.

Dang. That's quite a long story. How big are your chapters on average? (You can provide the link in a table of contents, if you want, btw, or just post one here so I can look at them.)

The language policy is pretty open. We don't like excessive or overly graphic language, but from what you described you should be fine.

Also, one more thing - try to limit the number of posts to make to one a day. That way you don't flood the blog list and people won't call you out for spamming.

It varies. Between 15-33 pages on World depending on what's being covered. It's a tale of a Skyrim build using the Requiem overhaul.  The One a day limit is fine, especially if posts can be a bit longer than what I'm used to.

Lol, I don't have a table of contents in the thread. It is quite a long and arduous mess. It's the reason why I'm looking to post a more refined version of the tale here.

Here is a link to the thread and you can have a good laugh. This project has literally exploded.

Thanks for answering my questions. Been reading your tales. Awesome stuff.

If anyone else encounters a problem like this (Not likely I know) I sorted it out by using a whispering effect. To empthasise the fact that they are animals, I added grunts, barks and whines.

Red glanced across the snowy ground to Scree who had sprained her hind leg.

    "That was silly".

Scree whinned quielty as she hobbled behind Red to get back in formation of the pack.

Yeah, this works pretty alright.  It's quite clear that they are talking to each other in the little narrative. I have to do this quite a bit, as I've got a dog follower and he yaps up a storm and plays a very active part in the narrative.

I have some dialogue with werewolves in the narrative, but I handled it differently. Aela mentions in the quest Silver Hand that some are feral, yet Sinding talks to you quite intelligently, so I have a thing where werewolves are by degrees cognizant. Some are wild and feral and are unable to communicate in the traditional sense, whereas some others can actually speak in the common tongue. Yes, Albee will take a trip to the Hunting Grounds, albeit for a very different reason.

interesting.  The way I handle werewolves is that they can understand people. Sotek explains to someone that it helps when you talk to them as if they are a child. To me they can't talk at all but growl and grunt as a form of communication.

At one point in my story Red (Aela's werewolf form) hurts her leg. Sotek's werewolf form whines as it gently rests its paw near her wound.

Remember Sinding? He talks to the dragonborn while in his werewolf form. Lore-wise, it would appear that it's possible.
