I was thinking more about elven shortsword or silver longsword, but ebony sounds good too. And as I said I already play this character as a pure mage more or less. With sneak instead of conjuation. So pretty much using illusion and sneak and poisons, and if things go wrong it is time for destruction and alteration. I was using burgundy linens and burgundy shirt with mythic dawn hood until now. But what I lack is the good roleplay.

I'm wanting to make an Oblivion character based around Nistor's Boots. I'm thinking somthing like a fisherman, or sailor, but what kind of Race/gender does the name Nistor sound like? And does the enchantment fit a fisherman or sailor?

Hello everybody, I was going to start a new character in Oblivion and I had a few questions.

    1. Are Doomstones marked on your map, and since they can only be used once a day, do you have to revisit the stone to reacquire the power?

    2. Are there any ways to regenerate magicka if you have the Atronach Stone birthsign, not counting absorbed spells?

    3. Birthsign stones are separate from your actual Birthsign you choose when creating your character, correct? And I also believe you can only have one at a time, and they function as once per day powers.

    4. Is there a cap on magic resistance or can you become completely immune to magic?

To be able to make a custom spell, do you have to buy the effect from a merchant or find it on a piece of armor/a weapon?

    Thanks!

    Hi, Tim.

    1. Doomstones are not marked on map. They give you Greater Powers, so you can use them once a day and after 24 hours you can use them again.

    2. Only way to restore magicka with Atronach Birthsign (I suppose you meant Birthsign) are potions, Velkynd Stones, Ayleid Wells and blessings from shrines. If you are going for Atronach Birthsign I would say that Alchemy is your best bet.

    3. Stones are separate from Birthsigns and you can have only one. But lot of stones have restrictions, mostly certain amount of Fame.

    4. You should be able to hit 100% Magic Resist, but I´m not sure if it negates all damage from incoming spells. You can take look at my Antimage where I talked about synergy between Reflect, Resis and Absorb.

    5. To create your own spell you already must have variation of that spell in your Spell "Book". Say you want to create spell that does Fire, Frost and Lighting damage at the same time, you must know all three spells. Enchantments from weapons doesn´t count for Spellmaking.

And sorry for late response. I hope this will help you :)

Thanks for the help Karver! I haven't really gotten into Oblivion too much before, and was wondering what a Doomstone was, I don't think I've seen even one before. Don't worry about the late response, no offense to this group but its pretty empty and I thought it might take a week to two. Thanks again!
