I really doubt that those Nords know the difference between Meridia and any other Daedra. It's just "Daedra" to them. They might not kill a person like Valarie on sight, as she is seemingly harmless, but they would likely just pretend that they don't know she is a Daedra worshipper. To see one of them actually talk about it like it's something normal is rather strange. Lol, most Nords would be rather unfriendly to you if you merely are a mage, even without any Daedra worship.

There is a bit of hypocrisy with the Nords.  They are fine with healers (as shown from multiple conversations throughout Skyrim) but generally hate mages.  They have Daedric shrines all over the place but never tear them down (or deface them).  I'm using the "hypocrisy card" to work to my advantage right now.  Of course, things might change in the future as Valarie develops her skills and abilities.  :-)  And, as mentioned in the story, Istar was sort of reminded about Meridia when Valarie told him she was leaving.

They have Daedra shrines all over the place? Well, it does seem so if you think of Skyrim the way we see it in the game. But if you think of it as a full-scale country, the situation is different. You wouldn't even know that there are any shrines, except maybe the shrine of Azura. You would have to search for them through thousands of miles of wilderness. Skyrim is full of things most of its denizens have no idea about. But be sure, if some Nords learned that someone built a Daedric shrine somewhere near their home, they would destroy it immediately.

Yes, "all over the place" was a bit extreme.  But everyone seems to know about the Shrine of Azura, and Meridia's shrine is visible (her statue and all) to anyone who travels to Solitude by land.  Those are the only two Daedra not considered to be "wholly evil."  Those two locations are more like "Mount Rushmore" to me, as almost everyone would likely know of their existence.  Dagon's shrine is large, but it's tucked away from the normal routes people would take.  Thus, it remaining largely untouched makes sense.  The other visible shrines are even more remote and "minor."

Well, Valarie was caught in the blast of a fireball while fighting off wolves and perished.  It seems that her allegiance to Meridia was found out by a hostile mage who then waited until she was occupied by wolves to attack.

RIP, Valarie.  May you enjoy the Colored Rooms forever.

The fact that the shrines are visible doesn't change much. If some people erected these statues in the old times, it's not like they disturb anyone. Idk, like some ancient construction IRL, like the Stonehenge and such. But knowing that someone is actively worshipping Daedra at those shrines is a totally different story. A statue is just a piece of stone. It's the people who turn it into something special.

Ah, such a mundane death, lol. Where was Meridia looking? It's always like this. You wirship a Daedra, call her mother, and then she just lets some dilettante fry you to death with his clumsy spells...

So true!  Well, my next character is in development now.  And he won't participate in any Daedric practices!  :-)

Nice, no Daedra worship for a change. I've been wondering if there are any peoplr eho worship anything beside Daedra and Talos.

It's actually funny, as I've never played either a Daedra or Talos worshipper before.  I have done all the daedric quests, but never with a character who was devout.  More of the "It's a quest so I will do it" mindset.  This challenge has really made me think about the motivations and influences which shape my character's actions.  Thank you!

Ok, off to ponder my new character.  Also, it might be nice to add a few more quest lines that improve skills (e.g., Lost To The Ages grants you minor smithing, or major smithing if it is already minor; A Return To Your Roots grants the same with alchemy, etc.).  Given my propensity to play on Master difficulty with permadeath, I think my next character will be heavily focused on defenses for surviving more than a few days/weeks.  :-)

I've never really played a devout Daedra worshipper either, I tend to play Aedra worshippers and it surprises me a bit that people always go for Daedra. As for Talos, I don't think I'll ever do that, the thought alone feels as nice as thinking about eating a corpse, lol. But I like playing characters that are devoted, not to a deity but to an idea. It makes the playthrouh interesting.

I'm fully open to ideas about quests. But in the end of the Aetherium questline you already get the Aetherium stuff. And the Nirnroot quest is just one quest. Does that really deserve skills?
