Aw. She must be quite sad. What she'll do now without her companion?

Seems like Ostium is in for a great snack. Well, some of it will be undead but most is still alive.

    Dragon

    23rd Heartfire Riverwood Sigrid's house
Helgen. No words. It will never leave me.
I saw a dark Dragon in the skies.
I found no one, except one man below. Hadvar of Riverwood lives.
    Go to warn Whiterun.

    24th Heartfire Whiterun Uthgerd's house
Jarl Balgruuf needs a stone from Bleakfalls Barrow. Near Riverwood.
Hired Uthgerd the Unbroken. Found her in Bannered Mare.
Smithed Dwemer gear. Gave her Erik's dwemer Greatsword.

    25th Heartfire Riverwood Sigrid's house.
Got dragonstone. Uthgard killed the draugr lord. I did nothing . Lost my bow until it was dead.

    26th Hearthfire Whiterun Utherd's house
The Dragon came. Uthgard the Unbroken slew it with Erik's sword. I did nothing.
    Dragonborn
    It should have been ERIK
Why by all Gods did Mirmulnir choose me

"I picture within, another as I
Peering out into the same night sky
Wishing of one to make them whole
Warm heart beating in a world of cold"

    [verse by "Immok the Slayer"]

Well life goes on. She will find a dispensable grey-skin to help her against the firewielding witch that holds Nettlebane. In the spring she will journey alone to find new life for the Gildergreen. Then, Kynareth willing,  she will get  a steel-souled warrior Nord  to take her to High Hrothgar. (If he'd lived, Erik was going to have been the Dragonborn)

She thinks that Mirmulnir made her Dragonborn???

  • November 15, 2018

First impressions, yes, the soldiers say she's dragonborn, she feels that Mirmilnir's soul landed on her , giving her, and not Uthgard the Shout. She has always felt Erik could have become something like a Shor's hero. She hasn't read the books yet but everyone has says she is.

What would you think, young Dragonborn?

  • November 15, 2018

Well, it strongly depends on one's background. My guy actually didn't believe he was Dragonborn, didn't want to believe and refused to even consider the possibility. But he was educated enough to know that Dragonborns are born that way, not made, even though he was quite far from Nord stuff.

But a young village girl? Might as well think that the dragon cursed those guards and they went insane, lol. Or something else. Anything.

    The Warlock Fortress

Ostium strolled along the road and looked down on his mangled fingers pondering his injury.

I hope my work can prevent something like this happening to other people.”.

He saw his injury as a reminder of what he was working for, a reminder of what mishandled potions can do to you.

He passed a cave with odd structures  in front of it when a shiver ran down his spine. He remembered these structures from the time belrand and him cleared that cave of those horrid Falmer. He dreaded having to enter that cave sooner or later to gather all the ingredients that grow inside. The thought of entering such a cesspool of filth again made him slightly nauseous.

Ostium came closer to the fort and spotted a Skeleton Archer on a small watchtower. Under the cover of the setting Nights darkness, Ostium snuck up on the skeleton. He unsheathed his dagger and lodged it in between two vertebrae at chest height, twisting the blade and severing its spine. The skeleton’s torso plummeted to the ground where Ostium stomped on the ribcage with a sickening crunch, shattering it into pieces and snuffing out the ghostly flames residing in its eye sockets. Ostium pocketed one of the bones to crush into bone meal later. He sheathed his dagger and looked into the courtyard of the fort from his vantage point.

It was a big open courtyard with a small wooden shelter and two entrances into the fort. He saw two more skeletons patrolling around the courtyard together with a black robed woman. He could hear sounds coming from the wooden shelter, which he recognized as someone working at an alchemy station. Ostium jumped from the watchtower onto the outer wall of the fort and proceeded to sneak along the top of it towards the upper fort entrance. He slipped past the patrolling enemies and entered the fort.

A small room opened up in front Ostium. He hesitated for a moment, listening for any signs of life but couldn't hear anything. He entered the room properly and looked around, it appeared to be the room of a leader. A few steps going up to the left of the room led to a bed, a few shelves and some barrels. Ostium started rummaging through the containers and the guards claims were true, he found dozens of Bleeding Crowns and Mora Tapinella, followed by 2 salt samples and a Death Bell flower. His eyes widened as he spotted a paper scroll with a wax seal displaying the universal mark of the School of Conjuration. It had something written on it “Frost Atronach”. Ostium secured the scroll on his belt and kept looking around. He found a book called “Warrior” together with another scroll, but this time bearing the Destruction mark and writing reading “Fire Storm”. He spotted a ladder leading up to the top of the fort, which he scaled after looking around one last time.

Ostium emerged out into the cold darkness. He found himself on top of the fort with a few steps leading up to a large stone table. Various items were strewn across the table including a bowl of Fire Salts and one of Void Salts, human skulls some soul gems and another Conjuration scroll with “Familiar” written on it. Ostium pocketed the salts and the scroll just as he heard the eerie noise of a reanimated skeleton from below.

Looking down revealed a single skeleton standing behind a corner out of sight from the mages. Ostium lowered himself off of the roof on to the ground and started sneaking up on the skeleton. He raised his dagger and brought it’s pommel down onto the skeleton’s skull with all his might. The skull shattered with an awful crunch, dispersing the magically connected bones. One of the mages noticed and rushed over to where she heard the sound. Ostium quickly pressed himself against the wall to escape the mages vision. She walks past him and stands upon the pile of bones which was once her servant when a hand wraps itself around her mouth. Ostium chomped down on her neck with all his might, his fangs burrowed deeö into her throat. A dull crack could be heard, her neck snapped due to the massive force of Ostiums jaw. He fed on the blood pouring out of her mangled neck and walked to the edge of the forts wall after finishing his meal. He lowered himself down onto a wooden beam sticking out of the outer wall and jumped of it, landing softly on the snow. He stood up and followed the road leading back to his hideout.

    Imposters

With his bag filled with ingredients, Ostium went on his way towards his hideout when he spots 2 mage looking women standing over 2 dead bodies. He recognized them as Vigilants of Stendarr, he saw a group of them a few weeks back. The women called for Ostium to come closer, they wanted to talk to him. He hesitated for a moment, starting to feel nervous.

“I hope they don't recognize me as a vampire. Falion explained to me that the vampire strain i was infected with is indistinguishable from a human if well fed. I should be safe.”

Ostium sighed and walked over to them.

Traveler, what are you doing out during this time of day?” one of the women asks while eyeing up Ostium.

I was on my way back to Winterhold ma’am, i just visited my family in Windhelm.” Ostium answered with a smile while turning his back to them and pointing in the direction of Winterhold.

A sharp pain he was all too familiar with spread through his neck. One of the women was latched onto his neck. Ostium rammed his elbow into her stomach, sending the woman tumbling to the ground. Ostium spun around and was surprised to see both of the women displaying their fangs. The woman Ostium elbowed got up slowly and let out a shrill, blood curdling hiss.

Ostium pulled the spell scroll from his belt with his left hand and drew his dagger with his right hand. He cut open the wax seal and held the unraveling scroll away from his body. He got a light shock send through his arm as a swirling dark purple portal opened spawning a Frost Atronach. The scroll combusted into beautiful cold burning magic flames. The vampires tried to flee as the Atronach punched a hole straight through the chest of one of the vampires. Ostium followed the other one, ramming his dagger into her heart. The vampires were defeated. Ostium cut out a few chunks of the vampires flesh to turn into dust later on with the help of the sun.

The Atronach returned back to Oblivion and Ostium arrived at his hideout a few minutes later. Feeling drained, Ostium decided to sleep on the bedroll as the sun started to climb over Skyrim’s mighty mountain filled horizon.

I hope my work can prevent something like this happening to other people.”

    How, I wonder?

He should have returned to the fort for a quick snack^^

Whew. Pesky vampires!  I hate seeing travellers loitering on the road. Sometimes it's easier to shoot first and ask questions after, if you're on your own.
