I don't worry about it too much, as long as I can justify it in the RP. For instance, the Wolf stuff can be bought right after Proving Honor. I can't tell you how many of my characters signed on with the Companions until they learned their little secret. I think it's great that you don't have to become one just to get the best starter steel in the game. (Including the Wolf Armor, a full suit with a SFSGS=49 weight points, which is pretty damned good for HA/2H.)
And like Vaz said, there's no conflict killing the enemy, taking their stuff, and using it to kill more of them bastards.
