Character Build: The Heretic

  • May 23, 2013

I don't worry about it too much, as long as I can justify it in the RP.  For instance, the Wolf stuff can be bought right after Proving Honor.  I can't tell you how many of my characters signed on with the Companions until they learned their little secret.  I think it's great that you don't have to become one just to get the best starter steel in the game.  (Including the Wolf Armor, a full suit with a SFSGS=49 weight points, which is pretty damned good for HA/2H.)

And like Vaz said, there's no conflict killing the enemy, taking their stuff, and using it to kill more of them bastards.

This is really great. It's builds like this that prove that theskyrimblog should continue for a long time, congrats

This build is pretty bad ass, and it taught me something new about game mechanics. I had no idea you could steal ownership of a zombie from another caster.

Yeah it's a pretty cool effect, very satisfying if you get the chance to use it...

Serana often works against you if you're running necromancy because she spams zombies, so I often revoke her creations to keep my conjuration up...

Mason, check this out mate. If I am not mistaken, the 6th picture of this build is the one you used to edit your Heretic's main showcade pic. Just saying..

Mason you continue to amaze me, I am wowed by how badass this build looks. I'm giving it a try right now, hopefully I can pull it off.

mason what kind of fortify potions did you find yourself using the most, or which ones are the most important?

As much as I always loved this build from, well, even before you ever posted it, there was always something I couldn't quite put my finger on that bothered me. I think I felt like it just tried to do too much and was just a little unfocused as a result. That was, at least, until I began to fully grasp that it's basically two builds in one: the holy sword & board undead slayer stylings of a Cleric and a fully fleshed-out Witch Hunter with a Necromantic twist. You certainly did spell that out for us in the build description but it didn't hit me that it should be played as one or the other at any given moment to fully gel as one of the best builds out there. I think the divine/melee half of the build is the more obvious of the two you've perfected, but the manner in which you swapped out the typical Atronachs of a Witch Hunter for undead so as to tie it in with the occult side of a Cleric build is nothing short of brilliant itself either. And the fact that we get two of the best playstyles there are tied together so beautifully is why this might just be your greatest achievement. The aesthetic's just icing on the cake. I've been trying to decide between starting up Twisted's Witch Hunter (SUCH a good build) or Faroe's Knight (SUCH a good build), but I kind of get the best of both playstyles to switch between on the fly with this build. May just end up playing all three anyway knowing me but still, it needs to be reiterated that this build is one hell of a feat, Mason, even for a legend such as yourself.
