    "Thunder rolled.

    It rolled a six."

My ultimate character in Morrowind was the Solomonar. The inspiration for the character came from Romanian mythology (I am Romanian). Sadly, most of the magical effects I used are not available anymore (the build used Mysticism and Alteration heavily). In Skyrim, I turned the Solomonar into a minimalistic Magic Specialization build that keeps true to the actual myth. The skeleton of the build is the Fire/Frost/Shock Mage (named CombatMageElemental in the Editor) to also keep the spirit of the build true. I should also mention this is a 0AR and also a NoCrafting build.

    The Solomonar

I never knew who my parents were. I knew my master. He died. I know people. People never change (sic). Our order has been destroyed. Thalmor. Most human of all races. Arrogance, hatred, pride... calling themselves Mer... Children.

I know I am not the only one. I have seen signs. Others have survived. I lived around humans since I can remember. I am old now. My studies were never completed. I was never able to call upon a Dragon. As long as blood is still running through these old veins my training has to continue.

I had heard Dragons roamed through Skyrim once. This was my opportunity to learn more.I had set camp some distance away from a Nord settlement called Darkwater Crossing. Then I saw the skies darken. The Legion appeared out of nowhere. They were after a Nord called Ulfric. I was seen by some Imperial Scouts. I knew I would be free soon. I wasn't going to die, that much I could feel.

We were all taken to Helgen and the moment I saw the Imperial Executioner I started doubting my tingling feelings. Then the Dragon appeared and started wreaking havoc. I was caught within the cone of his breath and I felt all my powers slipping away… A lifetime of training…

You,Solomonars, are wizards who can control clouds and rain. You can call on the weather dragons and even ride them. People have flaws. Nobody is perfect. You know people. You know people well. Every now and then, Nature decides people have to be punished, and you are the ones who enforce Nature's punishment.

    THE BUILD

    Race

Breton (Magic Resistance - Breton blood grants a 25% constant resistance to magic/ Dragonskin - Absorb 50% of the magicka from hostile spells for 60 seconds, once per day)

One of the three mage archetype races, you lack the self-importance and racism of the Altmer and the vengefulness of the Dunmer. You are interested in anything and everything, you are good with people and tend to reduce life to a game of wits

     Standing Stone

The Atronach Stone - Magicka +50pts/ Spell Absorption 50%/ Regenerate Magicka 50% slower

Spell Absorption is a tactic you rely on. One of the reasons you were chosen as a Solomonar was your innate ability to absorb spells. But using your Dragonskin power usually left you drained for the day. Ever since your birth, you were associated to the Atronach constellation. You always believed it was because you could absorb spells. Travelling through Skyrim, you found the Atronach symbol on a sort of magic stone and discovered with amazement that touching it granted you the constant ability of absorbing half of the power of all spells that touched you.

     Shouts

    Unrelenting Forcestyle="font-size: 10pt;"> Become Ethereal
    Clear Skies

You can alter the nature of reality just by using your voice.

    Whirlwind Sprint
    Storm Call
    Call Dragon

Using your voice determines all forces of Nature itself to recognize your abilities.

    Major Skills

    Destruction

As a master of Destruction magic you use fire, frost and lightning to inflict damage directly. The elements may be launched directly at targets, but some applications have utilized these forces to be set off by proximity runes, or used a form of protective cloak and even a damaging wall of magical energy to deter opponents.

    Restoration

This Magic School allows you control over the life forces themselves. To you, it represents the way Nature is always able to recover or resiliently handle damage.

    Minor Skills

    Alteration

You can change the natural laws and bend them to your will. Mastering Alteration will make you more resistant to Magic and will allow you to absorb spells.

    Conjuration

Elemental Daedra represent the forces of Mundus, they are the embodiment of Creation and Destruction. Neutral beings, you have the power to call on their help.

    EQUIPMENT

Armor - Clothing (living in nature all your life you never had the need to use any sort of armor. A feral bear would have a harder time to bite through you, yes. But the said bear would have definitely caught you...)

What you normally look after are magical effects that will help you in your studies:

    Fortify Magicka
    Fortify Destruction
    Fortify Magicka Rate
    Fortify Destruction/ Magicka Regen
Fortify Destruction/ Fortify Magicka/ Fortify Magicka Rate (Archmage's Robes)

One of the items you cherish the most is a pair of boots...

    Boots (0007c92e - Resist Shock - 40 pts/ Archmage's Quarters)

    Weapons

Woodcutter's Axe (various uses, including combat) + Pickaxe (only for Mining)

You tend to more around quite a bit, and you’re usually setting camp in the wild. These tools help you perform different needed tasks. In your travels you have seen many Ore and Geode veins and when you think about it yourself, you are happier for having a pickaxe with you instead of a staff... Mages cherish staves... you, on the other hand, are at home in Nature.

     Essential Quests

College of Winterhold (for saving the whole of Skyrim from an unnatural event; additionally, for Mage's Circlet, Savos Aren's Amulet, Archmage's Robes and the unique Boots with Resist Shock)

Main Quest (for the "Force Without Effort" ability [increased Stagger chance] and eventually, for the Call Dragon shout – Note: When you have to see where Esbern is hiding, talking to Brynjolf, Dirge or Vekel the Man, you better have with you an Amulet of Dibella, and have the active Blessing of Dibella and the Gift of Charity blessing for an overall boost of + 35 to your Speech)

The Book of Love - 15% additional Magic Resistance is more than welcome. Mind you, probably you'll want to have an Amulet of Dibella with you to help you with the quest.

Discerning the Transmundane (for Oghma Infinium - you will keep the book so the quest will never be completed. This is a book of immense knowledge and you want to accumulate all possible knowledge. The difference between you and others who want to achieve this is that you want to make sure the world stays in one piece)

    GAMEPLAY

You can stand your ground with the little magic that was left in you, but you will need to retrain your lost skills, and even though you never needed money, the more money you would have, the faster you could regain your magic abilities. You would never accept stealing as a means to gain wealth, so your only options are to do favours to people who need help and to delve into dungeons in search for loot to sell.

You would start by doing Misc Jobs (chop firewood and sell it, collect vegetables and sell them – this old Solomonar sold the vegetables he picked up to farmers outside of Winterhold: Severio Pelagia for cabbage and potatoes and Alfhild Battle-Born for gourds, leek and wheat).

You heard the Thieves Guild and The Dark Brotherhood offered good coin for services (repeatable quests). It’s not that you didn’t agree with what they were doing… They were being human. It’s just that filling their ranks gave you a greater chance to get struck by lightning on a sunny day. Marriage in these parts meant your spouse would set up shop and start making some money. Marriage was never the answer to anything and you would not do it now… it would feel… unnatural.

You are a natural forager, so whenever you see unowned items you would make them your own. Camps, settlements, shipwrecks, caves, ruins of all sorts, you know you can find small treasures in all these places. From your experience, visiting Military Camps is always worth it. For one, you get to help the wounded soldiers on either side of the Civil War. Then, in every camp there are always some potions that the soldiers would let you take.

Lastly, Dragons were known to hoard coin. And you had seen a Dragon with your own eyes. You could bet all your possessions (most of which you knew could be easily replaced at any given time) that if you went through the glory of defeating a Dragon and the guts of the actual beast, you will find coin.

Gaining your skills, you ultimately strive for knowledge. Being an accomplished Solomonar means being able to Call a Dragon. Having mastered that, you are free to travel the world and help whomever needs help, doing what you were always meant to do.

As far as the perks are concerned, the build will be fully perked at level 36.

    Magicka 4/ Health 2/ Stamina 0

    COMBAT MECHANICS

    Stagger

You know how to make your spells have an Impact on your opponents and whenever you need to draw the attention from yourself and back to the attacker, you dual cast your spells. As long as you knew you were under attack, you would not be in any trouble. Through meditation with Paarthurnax your chance of staggering opponents increased...

    Spell Absorption

Either passively or actively using Spell Absorption meant you took less damage from the spells thrown at you and replenishing your Magicka reserves. As far as you could understand, there were three ways in which one could use Spell Absorption: being a Breton, using that Atronach magic stone and becoming a specialist Alterer. And you had all three. How lucky could you be?

    Magic Resistance

You were already protected against magic. But there could be spells you would not absorb. Well, if they hit you, they were bound to do even less damage to you. You were training to resist magic attacks. Being a Breton helped. Again. Being an Agent of Mara added its benefit... It was funny how making people come together was such a magical thing that you gained resistance to magic because of doing it... Then lastly, specializing in Alteration would again prove beneficial.

    Shouts

The magic always in your sleeve.

This is an awesome build with a solid and appealing presentation, gameplay and roleplay! +1

You have your tags written wrong. They should be (exactly as written):

"Character Build Mage", "Character Build Elementalist", "Character Build Sorcerer"

You can also use a Race tag (Race:Breton in this case) and Rank tag when it settles on deserving high level  Can you answer a few questions? I listed them below...

I don't understand what's the deal with Agent of Mara and stagger? The ability you get is Resist Magic... I'm also not sure when do you use Woodcutter's Axe. When you run out of magicka? Also, what is spell equipping glitch and how do you use it?

If you ever wanted to know what SCHOLOMANCE took its name from, click here.

I studied folklore and history of mentalities, and I obviously have my own thoughts on Solomonars (and since I saw shamans with my own eyes, I tend to believe that the devil has absolutely nothing to do with Solomonars). Had to fiddle a bit with the Wikipedia articles in preparation for the build.

your build's concept and role are not bad, but with the Atronach stone\perk you have 80% of spell absorption, so you have only 20% of chances to summon an atronach. have you tried it before post it? are you on pc and use some kind of mod for conjuration? +1

    Hey and thank you!

As of late, my tags go crazy. I forget the quotation marks and everything gets scrambled.

The Agent of Mara I think eventually became a hidden wish of mine while writing the build... Things turned in my head and suddenly it made sense. And the mistake stayed in the content.

Regarding the spell equipping glitch, there is a situation in which you can't equip some spells in your right hand. One of the ways to break the glitch is to equip a weapon and then equip the spell you wanted. Maybe it's been addressed in some patches...

The Woodcutter's Axe I mostly use it for chopping wood and getting through tunnels full of spider webs. But I would rather drop loot of 1000/1 value/weight ratio than my axe.

I haven't encountered that glitch before, maybe due to playing with Unofficial Patch...  Ah, and Anderson is right, the absorption glitch is only fixed with the mentioned Unofficial Patch and atronach summons won't work as reliably on console as on PC. However from my point of view the main damage output comes from Destruction and summoning the Atronachs is not an integral part of general combat situations.

Ah, Ben and Internet Explorer...  You can fix that to work on all browsers if you get into HTML and put "style="padding-left: 350px;" for <ul> tag that corresponds for the shouts list (350px is a custom number, play around with it to get the best looking result)

I don't think the build is in a rush to anywhere...

By the time you will get the Atronach Perk, leveling your Alteration to 100, the Atronachs you summoned would be more annoying than helpful in battle. Summoning Atronachs is an early game mechanic. Fortunately, early game becomes late game very soon with this character. And then, you won't mind awfully to have the Atronach Perk.

I'm playing on PC. No mods.

I have the Unofficial Patch, yes (didn't solve the equipping glitch).

Forgot about the Woodcutter's Axe. The last reason why it would be alright to use it even for combat (not when fighting lvl 40 opponents, obviously) is that using it in combat will not increase any Weapon Skills. So it's a good go-to during the first levels, if in a tight spot.

    Thank you. I guess.

The last thing I would normally do would be to "beatify" something for no reason. But since you hate mage, if you ever think of playing 0AR with a caster, Destruction and Impact is the way to go.
