Perhaps this is too idealistic of me, but the way I envision it having worked out if the judges had kept their innermost thoughts secret would have brought lots of content, presentation, and lore debate to each build. There would have been initiative placed on us to inquire and discuss everything about each build, and it certainly would have carried the contest's hype onward into the next one.
Transparency is always good, but to the point where it harms the users and the group involved? I've been on enough forums to know where that line should be, but I know things are different everywhere you go on the internet, and maybe this is just something I'll have to get used to here.
