How could The empire beat the dominion without skyrim and hammer

The Great war isn't a point of comparison that works when comparing Altmer Battlemages to a Legion. The barely ever face eachother head on when both were prepared. Except, you know, at the Battle of the red ring.

The dominion didn't exist at the time of the Oblivion Crisis.

Legions have archers to pincushion the mages and mages to ward them from the fire

The Legion has it's own mages. And Bretons. So yes, they really can.

Doesn't the legion have battle mages too?

Doesn't it take a long time to learn magic?

Isn't it easier to train soldiers than train wizards?

So yes, they did bring a knife to a wand fight, and they killed the other guy.

Like everything else you've been saying?

And in this very example you see how the legions have the better strategy and can win even in shit situations.

The other Mede sucks though, glad to have put a sword through his neck

He agreed to it because of the high cost of the war, not just that battle.

Actually it was 99% thanks to Altmer arrogance, and their inability to adapt to situations. Wich is why Human commanders as much better.

    True

So, you're saying, one guy embarrassed all of  Dominion's forces? One guy.

It takes decades for an Altmer to become an adult, that's roughly 2 generation of Humans ready for war.

A legion also includes all sorts of mages. And the ultimate mage killers.

How many battle mages compared to regulars does the Aldmeri actually have though? Probably not as much as you think.

The Altmer also are more susceptible to magic, I imagine if the Empire would think about this they could create a legion specifically to kill these mages. Breton spell swords with warded shields would do nicely

Altmer in Cyrodiil were completely destroyed, the ones in Hammfell took huge losses.

Elves are always more skilled than Humans. But for every Elf there's 3 Humans.

You know what, I'm bored with this discussion, I have a pegasus knight to level, and she gets one shoted by archers, so I have to redo all the damm levels 3 times

No, they will attack. I just said they wouldn't attack Alinor itself. Elsweyr and Valenwood however..

They don't, the longer they wait, the more Humans outnumber them.

Empire will try to kick the AD of the mainland. And seeing as there's always been plenty of Imperial supporters in both Elswery and Valenwood, it's possible they could.

Anyway, I have to end it here, the daily grind begins.

One emperor. One guy indicacts that he is some random stranger, not a military genius.

Also as Alduin said, the Altmer lost their main force to their own arrogance... all it would've taken is one scout. One scout and they would've wiped out the Empire... makes me sad.

I have to disagree with you, Alduin, about human commanders being better. For single battles they probably are, but humans never see the big picture, whereas the elves do. So IMO, elves are better commanders as the war > single battle.

War is unpreditable, if you can't change your plans, you're doomed. This is why humans are better.

How does a contingent of Altmer battlemages beat a fully trained Imperial legion? Two words. Chain. Lightning.

Of course it is a bad idea!!!!

When in the name of oblivion has war ever been a GOOD IDEA?!?!?!

War screws with your trade routes, kills your citizens and causes hatred, war is not a good idea in ANY scenario!

Just one ward? Gonna get smashed...Seriously though, I was just joking. I have no clue who would win between Altmer battlemages and an Imperial Legion.
