Well this character has fallen to the fire magics of a random mage, leaving Erik to carry the body of his oldest friend back to Rorikstead to be buried. She also leaves Lucia in Erik's care, hopefully the two can comfort each other following this loss.

Something I thought I'd mention is that I'm using the mod Experience which seperates skill levels from character levels, instead your character levels up through completing quests and basically anything that you'd get experience for in a Fallout game. So when I said level 13, this may be later or earlier then when others would get there depending on what I was doing. It also means that I could max a crafting skill and still encounter level appropriate enemies for the level of my combat skills.

I was going to point out that not being able to take both destruction and one handed makes it harder to play a spellsword, but after thinking about it only being able to use magic to support your martial skills makes for a far more interesting playstyle then just hold down flames while swinging your sword. Most of the difficulty that I've had when trying to create a character has been around me trying to line up Wintersun and my own ideas with what skills this challenge allows.

I've also sort of ignored the permadeath rule with my latest character because she's taken on a life of her own, and I have a bunch of newly installed mods that my previous attempts failed to use because they died before they could get to them.

Well i can help with wintersun gods when the Challenge goes live. Ignoring the permadeath for testing is fine in my eyes

It wasn't actually any of the gods that Wintersun includes that were causing me problems. Wintersun assigns each race some dieties that they can pick at level 1 based on the lore for the given race. In the case of my character I wanted to play a Dunmer, Wintersun provides only Daedra as starting Dieties for them which is fine. I then wanted the character to be a warrior of sorts to wear a set of heavy armour that I added with a mod, again the challenge allows that regardless of what diety I choose. I then wanted the have Brelyna as a follower, which meant having at least one magic skill to get into the college (and justify the character joining from a roleplay persepective). When those three things combined it narrowed my choice of diety, but it was still possible. The problem then happened when I died and had to start over and was compelled to choose a different diety so I wasn't just playing the exact same character. So really the problem was centred around me trying to force a square block into a round hole.

I have been away from computers for a week, but I've continued to have fun with randomness and alternate starts. (Have I said that's my favourite mod?)

I have done a few levels with my Arkay spellsword (heavy armor, smithing). Until she gets into the anti-undead ordinator perks, she is doing unperked, smithed damage with her weapons....does this fall into your category of secondary skill? I can see as levels and opponents' perks develop, her weapon will lose its power and she will become a tank (hopefully) spellcaster.

I tend to chose the (vanilla) Atronach stone for everyone, so I'm making a rule to stick to the archtype stones (signs under warrior mage thief) that match my character or their deity.

I am on new ground when trying to make a Solstheim Nord mage/shaman/thiever-of-secrets without destruction for Herma and his realm. And trying to decide if the higher tier of Speak with Animals is a skill in itself separate from the Thu'um line. I know what you mean, Fool, about square pegs!

I like having a lover/spouse as a plot anchor so the fates of some of my characters that are part of the 8/9Divine's culture will cross Mara's path.

Golden Fool, if I'm understanding what you mean correctly about Wintersun deities, a Dunmer doesn't have to chose a Prince at the start. Your guy can head towards towards the Deity that fits, and then pick up your perks, and Wintersun blessings, when he's found the shrine or done the quest.

The point behind the secondary perk is to give assasins a weapon, or to allow a thief to use something to distribute poison etc. If you plan to make a frontline fighter then you should consider picking an actual weapon skill, but if your Arkay char becomes a tanky supporter then maybe you can build that into the story? Like him losing the will to kill thus driving him to be something like a passive paladin. ^^

What do you guys think, should i add a free crafting perk? 2 primary 1 secondary and then if you still dont have a way to strengthen weapons and armor you can choose a free crafting perk that you can put points into. Would help with the "weapons become useless " problem.

I'll just drop the weapon. She will just be the tag along apprentice tossing the odd turn undead until Resto hits 30 with the first of the agressive antidead perks. To tell the truth, I have never played anything remotely like a paladin before, or even heavy armor, and I was having fun with the concept. I think I got carried away :)

Because of permadeath, I am using followers, and hiding behind them, a lot more, though I've still got a few loners. Where the end game (what fool thinks a Boethiah follower will still be on Nirn at Level 30 !?) is for them a a solo effort I am including atronachs or a line of illusion, which are pretty overpowered as support skills. So I'm questioning that a bit.

For the extra crafting perks with weapon users, so far I have encountered either weapon or armor (or smithing) in the blessing, which means you can have all three. I don't know about enchanting, that's something I've never got far in.
