Great thread, almost every build on here is a combination of some sort so it takes a lot of creativity to come up with an interesting 'pure' character! +1

Love this build. I've been wanting to do a build relying on shield defense and this build is perfect for it in my opinion. The fact that is a low level build and doesn't rely on perks from heavy/light armor also makes this very interesting. Nothing like playing like a true Nord! Great build. +1

Just as I was getting angry at the build section for not having a build exactly like this, bam.
Thank you! At last somebody has done the hard work of thinking up exactly what I wanted to play, much appreciated.
It's half 3 in the morning but I don't care, I have to play this build now!
+1 from me!

I've been away from the site for awhile so missed a bunch of the replies here, but I'm glad people are getting into it. This is definitely one of the more 'simple' builds on the site, but IMHO it has a ton of character - and as an unabashed fan of Old English and Norse lit, I hope it inspires people to read (or re-read) some of those excellent early medieval works!

lol, so true. In fact I practically have to *force* myself to spend perks in the armor skills most of the time - it's just so easy/tempting to ignore them altogether!

The time of heroes is dead Wiglaf. The Christ god killed it. Leaving mankind with nothing but weeping martyrs, fear, and shame...
yeah i know it's from the movie, but it's awesome anyway. I wish i hadn't seen this build, because it's making me want to play it instead of my Old Orc. Why is there so much awesome on this site?! +1 from me.

Just checked out this build after watching Beowulf (2007) again. I love the idea of no, or very few, armor perks. If you're leveling and investing in Block, why go out of your way to build armor defense? Great work!
