Hlaalu, Redoran or Telvanni?

You caugh me with pants around my ankles here. I never went that deep in Lore regarding Vivec, Chim and other stuff like that. It´s mostly too complicated for me, but I like these easily understandable interpretations.

It's weird really - back when I first played Morrowind it was a long, long time before I 'appreciated' House Telvanni.

I think its because you tend to go to Balmora first, and interact with House Hlaalu. My first couple of characters joined Hlaalu, which then of course closes off options with the other two.

Then you tend to gravitate to Aldruhn to pick up more quests for the Fighter Guild and Mages Guild, so that brings you into meeting with the Redoran and learning more about their culture and so on.

So, with the way the game tends to 'flow', I didn't really appreciate or understand or do much with Telvanni for quite a long time. That was my loss, of course - because they are AWESOME. I love everything about them - their houses, their culture, their magic, their history... I just love everything about Telvanni.

I was so pleased when the Dragonborn DLC included a fairly decent nod to House Telvanni

House Telvanni is really...out of hand for the early stages of the game. The main quest brings you first to contact with Hlaalu, then Redoran and Telvanni after that. But they introduce the Telvanni with a bang. Divayth Fyr. That guy is really the best one to introduce you to Telvanni, they´re eccentric behavior, views and their power.

I used to like Telvanni, but I'm starting to join Hlaalu with more of my characters.

More of your characters are thieves, rogues and merchants?

In defense of Hlaalu they gave us the biggest taste of how less xenophobic Dunmer deal with the larger world and an insight into trade and economy in Morrowind.

I prefer Redoran with their out of-this-world architecture and code of honour.

You can relate with Hlaalu much easier than with other Houses because of that. That´s what I actually like about them the most. They´re not xenophobic like other Dunmer.

Redoran and their out of-this-world architecture? And what about Telvanni mushrooms?

Telvanni mushrooms are indeed pretty outlandish and awesome but the clincher for me is the the code of honour. I always tend to favour knights to sorcerers, always have. In my D&D days it was the Knights of Solamnia which captured my attention over the Towers of High Sorcery. They were a pretty close second though.

How about you? You've said Hlaalu so does that mean you tend to favour more rogueish types?
