Debate: Sneak Archery

Which "one perk from Sneak" do you mean?  I often don't perk sneak AT ALL unless I'm going for something specific in the tree (e.g. Silent Roll) or my build revolves around dishing out lots of sneak attacks (assassination).

And I agree about the poisons.  25/sec for 10 secs combined with 25 sec paralysis can be mass-produced with Hearthfire homes with 5/5 Alchemist and Poisoner perks combined with 66% Fortify Alchemy enchants.  That's just evil! :)

Deadly Aim. Makes your bows deal x3 sneak critical damage instead of x2. Somewhat small but useful improvement without making your character overpowered.

@Caesar - Skyrim is one of the rare games that allows that. I don't like aggressive two-handed characters instead

Sometimes I don't even bother with Deadly Aim!  It kinda depends on the build, though.  If more of my damage comes from poison than the actual bow & arrow, it's questionable how much benefit I'll even get out of it.  And if I'm doing Alchemy and/or Enchanting in combination with Smithing, I don't even need the extra sneak damage in the first place. :P

That's about the only easy way to be a necromancer, eh?  The little imps in Torchlight required a corpse to summon them, but they were persistent until killed.  I've never gotten into Skyrim necromancy due to the duration issues and all. :\

Do you need both of the Summoner perks to pull this kind of stealth-necromancy off?

Like it says in the comic "Must have been the wind..."

Personally I love sneak archery. Its the first playstyle I tried before delving into character building, and I've always been a pretty good shot. What I hate is how difficult it is to come up with a unique playstyle that has sneak archery as the center piece.

I must admit that I'm the same to an extent. It's actually why I roleplay so much now that I think of it.

I enjoy it as long as you aren't one-shotting everything. I like to have a character that dies extremely easily if spotted, so that once he opens up on an enemy, its a race to see whether he will get discovered to kill the enemy first. Then again, if your sneak skill is incredibly high this doesn't really work that well, because enemies can never find you.

I remember once when I was sneaking through the Black-Briar Lodge to get Frost's lineage papers, I alerted one of the mercenaries and she came running into the room where I was standing in the open, right in the middle.  She ran past me so close she nearly bumped into me, didn't even notice.  I think my Sneak skill was < 30 at the time?  And I wasn't even in shadows; it was bright as heck!

My first character was a sneak archer too and I loved it--until I discovered crafting and was one-shotting nearly everything without ever being seen.

My general rule of thumb now is that if I am a sneak archer, I'm allowed one instant kill attack per encounter.  Once i get an insta-kill, I'llI break stealth and engage normally.  Against really tough bosses or dragons I might allow myself to go invisible and get another sneak attack in just so fights don't take 10 minutes on Master difficulty, but I usually avoid re-stealthing unless it is absolutely necessary.

I think if people exercise some self-control when it comes to crafting and don't abuse perk and spell synergies too much (e.g. Muffle + being a vampire + one point in stealth), sneak archery can be quite fun.
