Thanks to everyone for their suggestions, just thought I'd post a quick update. After taking a look at the Veiled Scribe, I decided confrontational (read; not sneak) archery might be a fun way to play. I ended up stumbling across Zach's The Purifier (don't know how to link, otherwise I would), and with a few tweaks of my own I've been having a blast. I mainly swapped out alteration for some one-handed and blocking (quick reflexes) to make close quarters more viable. I took Faendal as a follower and have been roleplaying my character as a sort of Robin Hood figure, with the duo being honorable thieves. Anyways, thought I owed it to Zach to promote his build here, and give him credit for the inspo.

Hey guys. I was wondering, does anyone know of a decent 2 handed build that also utilizes magic, but does not base itself around the Dawnguard questline or such? I've had quite a few characters like that, and I think the change of pace would be welcome. So preferably heavy armor, any type of magic, and a greatsword would be fun. And a lack of crafting skills would be nice. I've been looking around the site, but for some reason nothing has gotten my attention very well lately, so I thought I would ask people who generally know everything about this site.

Meep said: Hi, guys. I am looking for a fun build that actually allows me to play through Skyrim. I bought this game in 2011 but I have NEVER finished the main quest line. I always got bored before manage to finish it. My characters always become OP too early without any reasonable progression. I want to find a character with a great lore and strong RP. I want my character to have a great progression as well, becoming stronger without grinding too much early game (feel like cheating). The character should be weak early then becoming a monster late game. Also, the character should have many ways to destroy the enemy, not just nuking them with spells, or slashing them with sword throughout the game. I want to enjoy my character without dropping them halfway through. Thank you
Noodles is someone who has been playing Skyrim since 11-11-11 but his Exorcist build brought him new found excitement. As he describes the experience, "After so many years of playing Skyrim, I'm excited to say that I came up with a character build that allowed me to experience the game as if I was playing it again for the first time! It's unique! It's refreshing! It levels up fast!" It plays as a Redguard mage demon hunter, who is part of the Ash'abah. All of his builds are worth checking out, I'm sure you'll find something you like. You can find the rest of his builds at the bottom of his Exorcist build.

Here's an interesting take on a two-handed build utilizing magic: DxTr's Last Atmoran. Rather than restricting itself with the clucky usage of magic via favorites menu, switching back and forth between blade and spell, this build can smoothly transition between a two-handed barbarian playstyle and a sword and shield playstyle, both backed up by new "magic" added in by the Dragonborn DLC. Investing just two points into smithing, this build requires minimal crafting and has a badass armor combination to go along with its unique playstyle.

Give it a look and a like--it's, at the very least, worthy of both ;D

Crud! I somehow missed the Heavy Armor in your recommendation. This build uses Miraak's gear (I swapped out the boots and gauntlets for Thalmor gloves and boots--I like the frenetic pace of an unarmored build).

No worries Shinjin, I'm mostly just looking for anything that would be a fun and fast paced game, which is why I asked, although I realized after I posted that I like builds that give me a steady progression throughout, because some have great potential, I'm just not sure how to get there from the start of the game. The Wooded Eye certainly does grab my attention though. Thanks.
