We allow people to nominate their own builds for the hall of fame I don't see why this would be any different, especially with you and albino picking from them, but I might suggest at least for the first run of this event that your's and albino's builds shouldn't be reviewed.

Yeah, but the Hall of Fame is more specific... We must have over a hundred builds in Mythic and Legendary, probably a hundred more including the events. That would just be too many. I definitely think that having no self-nominations will narrow down the list a lot, and keep up quality as well, since everybody will recommend the best.

In the HoF the hosts ask for only builds that fit certain criteria, such as werewolf builds only. These limitations ensure that not just anyone can nominate their own stuff, only people whose builds fit the criteria. People nominating their own builds in that context isn't so bad, its actually just like people responding in the recommendations thread if you think about it.

In this context the criteria is far broader, meaning the amount of people who could nominate their own stuff would be insane.

To be fair, there's quite a lot of places (Build Recommendations, HoF...) where it does turn into a self-advertising campaign. I think either a build should have more than one nomination, or there should be poll(s), or the four builds should fit certain criteria: primarily mage (including spellsword/battlemage), primarily warrior, or primarily thief, and then something that mixes all three.

It doesn't matter if it's self advertising or not. In the case of the Hall of Fame the outcome is decided by the entire community. If the the self nominated build is great, people will vote for it else they won't. In this event's case Albino and I decide which 2 builds are picked regardless of how they were nominated. So, I see no harm in self promoting a build.

I don't know too many Legendary Builds I don't like but that's cool.

It might be helpful if people nominating the build were required to provide a brief explanation why they are nominating this particular build over the many, many worthy builds available. What makes this build stand out? For example, if I were to nominate Al's Transient Sorcerer, I would mention the build's heavy utilization of simple novice level spells, fast pace (no armor, so you're MOVING), and unique combos like ash-spelling your own familiar to act as an impervious decoy against enemies. That's a good idea!

I'm happy to make polls to separate the exceptional builds from the merely good

I am with you guys on this. Self nomination for attention could easily get out of hand in this thread and I think it should be curbed (and this is coming from a chronic self advertiser :P).
