Using the Aetherial Shield/Disarming Bash perk to dictate WHEN you want to use the shields magic has been used by the Bronze Sentinel for months.
It doesn't work every time.

It works well as long as you don't run low on stamina (not sure what your stats are).
You do a series of power bashes until the weapon drops then finish with a quick bash to send them running...

I'm trying out this build, except I'll be replacing Illusion with Alteration and restoration, which IMO, will prevent a lot of the early game squishiness. Ward absorb from Restoration also works with Spellbreaker, which makes the shield insane. And I'll also be replacing the Lord with the Atronach stone. You don't use conjuration, so 50% spell absorption + another potential 30% from the Atronach perk will make you a mana sponge. Otherwise, an excellent build. Should be incredibly fun to play. I have tried shield + spell combos before, but always with the crutch of armor, so this should be interesting.
