I had to reshoot that last scene a couple of times - keep in mind Draugr Scourges are level 21 and Draugr Wights are level 13 - and I was only level 12! I was so lucky at the end there, lucky it was only a level 1 draugr with a 1-handed weapon hitting me!

I try to limit my favourites to about 10 things, that way I'm not scrolling through it constantly. I normally use hotkeys but for some reason they equip to the left hand first (and I prefer to keep my shield out).

He! I actually watched your block video with the giant weeks ago without knowing it was you that posted it! It actually inspired me to use trolls as a sparring partner for my melee builds, those guys are great for leveling block and heavy armor early on, plus they dont die unless you want them to!

There's no hot keys on consoles. It sucks. This is my first time playing an TES on console and that's the one thing that blows. I thoroughly enjoyed and used it alot in Oblivion. There is a side to side on the D-pad, but it only does two items to switch back and forth (I think thats all you can do?)

Yeah, I'll clear my favorites and start fresh. It's always tough though. I keep thinking I will use or need some items when I never really do!! ugh....

Great video. I'm just getting started, and am still trying to get the hang of the system. But I was planning on building a cleric type. This is a great example of how to do it right. Thanks for posting.

I just had a question. Would you recommend implementing enchanting into the build at any point?

I can't see why not at higher levels, although you don't really need it.

OK I have a couple of questions. =)  I'm still learning about character building and I wanted to ask you your thoughts about some things I've encountered using this build.

I find myself slightly frustrated because the mace is so damn slow.  I either get hit a lot or can take only 1 swing or so before I have to block. I also find that if I do any shield bashing at all I have NO stamina left, so I can't really power attack with my (elven) mace much. Actually just low stamina in general. Lastly, for a character in decent heavy armor I'm surprised by how "squishy" I feel. I found myself sticking with the Lord stone for the defense and magic resistance. But I refuse to wear a helmet because the steel plate + adept hood looks so friggin awesome!!!   Perhaps I need to step up to ebony + apprentice hood, hehe.

Anyway just looking for suggestions.  I'm used to playing spellsword types, maybe the problem is I'm just not very good at my blocking timing yet. (I'm sure that's part of the problem.)  I thought about switching to robes - for the Erandur look and more stamina - but I'm afraid I'd be even more squished.

ps not criticizing the build at all, just trying to become a better player in general.  Any advice is welcome.

Hey Paul. Not trying to step on Ponty's toes, but I figured I'd help try to answer your question. I've tried this build and haven't really had any trouble during combat even when I was in only iron armor. One thing to do is make sure you're using all of your priest's capabilities. Yes, he's a competent melee fighter, but he's very good with magic as well. Try softening your enemies up from a distance with your destruction spells and then smashing their skulls with your mace when they get close. I find that the build works best this way, and I feel confident that this was the intended playstyle when Ponty conceived this build. You really shouldn't need to power attack much with a priest. All of my stamina is mostly used for shield bashing when they get close, and by that time, if you've been hitting them with that Destruction magic, then a power attack shouldn't really be necessary to finish them off anyway. Hope I helped at least a little bit.  Oh and don't forget those Restoration spells!

More or less what Ryan said. The Priest is all about softening enemies up before you strike with melee attacks, and you're not really needing to power attack. Maces do plenty of damage on their own, and in melee you should be using your shield to keep the enemy incapacitated while you bash their skulls in. As for blocking it's quite easy once you learn that the only attacks you really need to block on a heavy armor+restoration character and power attacks, which are slow, deliberate, and easy to predict. Just remember to leave some magicka left over for healing. Combat becomes much much easier once you get Respite though (restore stamina with healing spells).
