Workshop Commenting Event
Welcome everyone to the Workshop Commenting Event. It's a somewhat different type of Event to what we usually run around here because instead of focusing entirely on the creation of content, this Event instead focuses on...Commenting (I'm sure that one was a suprise for you). Basically the entire idea of the Event is to spur people to get involved with the work of other members and offer help or suggest improvements even if it isn't normally what you spend your time in thee Workshop doing. There is a part of the event that is based around posting and finishing WiP's but the main focus is on comments rather than content for this one.
So, what makes the Commenting Event somewhat unique? Well, technically speaking it isn't really an Event and more of a mini-contest, or a challenge. At the start of the Event I'll be creating a spreadsheet (in Google Sheets so people can see it whenever) and recording points that members recieve for a number of different activities. Mostly this will be commenting, posting WiP's and finishing content but it may also include little surprises, maybe one day you get bonus points if you provide artwork or a perk spread, or you can get a bonus if your posting something for an Event in another group, but the end result is that everything you do in the Workshop (except you know...spamming, insulting others or breaking any of the other site rules) will get you points.
Now, be free. Go off and comment to your hearts content...Oh wait, yeah I forgot to mention why you should try and get points. Well, to put it simply the winner (person with the most points) will be given the ability to feature any 5 pieces of content for two weeks until the end of the year. One of those is featured on the front page while the other four are merely stickied within the group, but it's still a way to show off your work, or to promote something that you think is really awesome (it can be anyone's work). The second and third place will get 3 and 1 piece of content featured within the group respectively.
The Rules
Time Frame: 1st of August - 31st of August
Reward: 5/3/1 piece of featured content for the first, second and third placed members respectively.
Point Breakdown: 2 points for commenting on someone else's content, 3 for posting a Skyrim Build, Short Story, Poem or Fallout Build, 5 for posting any other type of content, 10 for finishing any content (including builds but not including short stories or poems).
Other Events in August
So, August if interesting because a few of us Hosts decided to all run Events at the same time (roughly) to kind of all work off of each other, or at least for the Workshop Event to work off them and for them to work off of us. Hoepfully the idea is that people will post WiP's for their Event Content here (which gets them points in this Event) and then the influx of commenters will give them more valuable feedback then they might have otherwise gone slightly more un-noticed. I do know that people who post content that isn't a build tend to have a bit more trouble getting feedback here so this Event is in part a way to hopefully encourage more feedback for those types of content.
Anyway, I won't spoil the events that haven't been announced yet, but I'll be posting links to all of them below and running a few special award days for them at different points.
