Yeah, something like that. Is that my lettering? Looks really close but a bit smoother. Still a bit pixilated though... I think. On my phone right now. Hard to tell.

I wanted feedback on my ideas too, but y'know...whatever

I think I need to redo the lettering... Was about to do that when real life intruded. Unless you want to take a stab at it. All I did was make the Typo3 font I posted earlier a bit bolder.

Honestly, I think they need fleshed out a bit more before you'll get good feedback. Are they supposed to be backgrounds? Banners? How do they fit in with the site content?

I like the ideas, especially the warrior guy, but I'm not sure how it fits in yet to comment...

I don't really know how to make text myself, don't have photoshop or gimp.

What did you use for what you just posted? And GIMP is free...

I use the sprite editor on gamemaker, I've used it for a couple of years so I pretty much mastered it. Don't really like GIMP

Not a huge fan of GIMP myself either. But it's way cheaper than Photoshop. ;)

Remember everyone, these changes are only temporary. An official site theme will be put in place after we decide on something

I'm torn between parchment and castle wall. On the other hand I really like Skyrim Blog just the way it is.

Ok, I think I have the text cleaned up finally.

And here's another banner idea in the parchment theme.  Not sure about the border...

Better without... Maybe needs some tweaking.

Id go for town tavern theme seeing as its the one stop shop for anything skyrim :)

I actually think this might be my favorite banner on this thread. I'm not sure why, but it justd feels very Skyrimish, and it doesn't feel so dark. Often, banners are given that are kinda to the dark side of skyrim but I feel like something like this would be more receptive and inviting than skulls and such. Wel done Beast. :)
Also,I wish we could get rid of that black border thing around the banner. I hate it. :P it ruins the feel in many ways for me and is just an ugly break. Just my 2 cents.

And here's another take on the HUD / Fading Picture concept.  Needs work, but enough to show the concept. The idea is to use elements from the in-game HUD and menu system throughout the site.

Last one for the night.  Alduin's Wall.  Again, just a rough idea, but use Alduin's Wall, and etched/engraved stone throughout the site.  Stones don't need to be black/grey if we want to add some colour.

That's actually quite good, but yeah, could use some more work.

Rather than adding gradient to the edges, I think the HUD idea works well if you add a very slight blur to the background (wallpaper), it's what happens when you pause the game to pull up the inventory/favs etc...

Good idea, makes it look like a painting. The banner could be worked so it doesn't look so squary, but rather a scroll or something.

Later on we'll set up a poll to decide which design fits best, and then we'll work out that one in particular.

    Sure,

It's going to be difficult actually, lots of good ideas have been spawned...

Later, I'm going to take a stab at each of the theme ideas listed above...Parchment/Stonework/Tavern...

Lots of people said they like the idea of a tavern but we haven't actually seen one yet to my knowledge...
