Joinable, or non-joinable what's the difference? They both bound you to certain gameplay and roleplay elements

I think I finally understand what you're trying to do. What you propose is essentially resurrection event with factions instead of NPCs

Try and think of other things...

Yes. They're all joinable factions in Skyrim. That would be a lame theme though, and it's totally not the same as nonjoinable factions. If the theme were "joinable factions" then all you'd have to do is run through that faction's quest line, wear their gear, and copy the skillset best suited to their work. They're already completely fleshed out, so there's no point building around them.

But for non-joinable factions, the theme is researching, building skill sets, reconciling known faction lore with Skyrim's culture and current events, etc. You're comparing apples and oranges.

The difference is that nonjoinable factions allows the builder the freedom to determine their own identity (beyond the basic archetype of that faction). Your job is to use your own creativity and imagination to make playable a faction that has never been playable in a TES game. How is this not a binding theme?

I can see a link. They're both faction-based. It's a minuscule and trivial link, at best. But it's not any stronger than the link between Zurin Arctus and Ada'Soom Dir-Kamal.
