Nah, he used the Vampiric Drain, not grip.

That sucks, although I probably won't use dual casting so I could work around it.

It was mentioned in Tim's build from the first contest, but it wasn't really the centerpiece.

I played a character that used Speech, Light Armor, Two-Handed and Block with the Ebony Blade, and (un)equipping the Blade toggled between Grip and the Lord version of Drain and the weapon. It worked pretty smoothly but got super boring after a while.

Is it affected by any cost reduction perks?

Nope, but something to keep in mind (I mentioned it in fun facts somewhere) - you can absorb some part of the grip effect (I think it's the glowy thing when you pull them close) if you have Spell Absorption. With the Atronach stone I was able to maintain a grip pretty much indefinitely.

It was fun to read all these old comments on the matter, after I posted my build.

Now I can say that all of you have the answer, Malkoran Split Soul!!!

You know there is an excellent mod for this, if you're on PC. Makes it an alteration spell.

Well 1. Not the point of this, it is to show a exploit... Not showcase the spell itself. 2. I'm on console so I can't be an advocate of something I don't use... 3. I made this so everyone could use this... Not so only a specific group of people get special privilege...

I always thought of Bound Sword as conceptually pretty Star Wars-ey myself. Couple that with lightning spells and the Ebony Mail/Nightingale Armor and...hmmm...Sith Lord build, anyone?

How much does it cost in the first place
