Good luck trying to find a single innovative, interesting mechanic in a two year old RPG of Skyrim's popularity. Players are using the same 18 skills they've been using since 11-11-11. Very little has changed, and most great ideas are exhausted. What differentiates today's builds is presentation, role playing concept, and fun-factor.
