Thanks Kyn! Collete's situation is really sad - not only her school of choice is overlooked but she's also one of two expert trainers when other teachers are masters. Nobody wants to mess with Phinis and all are focused on her :(

Thanks Gornith! They can save your life in many situations, blocking Spriggan poison attacks, the soul gem traps and the fact that they don't take into account difficulty helps with those Fireball casting Hagravens as well :)

I must be lucky (or unlucky) I think I've run into maybe 5 spriggans total, so their poison has never been an issue, and Hagravens I usually sneak kill before they can get me with a fireball.  Just dragon breath seems to be my biggest issue.  Ward spells, here I come.

Very interesting Vazgen, and pleased to see this as a featured post

I've seldom considered Wards as something to have as part of a character, but this post reveals some hitherto unknown (to me at any rate) features and tricks

    A deserved +1 from me

Thanks Paul! The wards were always a part of my mage characters, it just feels "mage-like" to cast the ward and block enemy spells and they saved me from certain death many times

Does the atronoch stone and ability together have any effect on ward absorb, or would having those be redundant with a good enough ward?

The wards are considered separate objects and absorption effects from atronach stone and perk doesn't affect them.

Would you happen to know off hand what the absorption cap is set to? One source tells me 85% but another one tells me its 95%

The ward absorption or regular spell absorption from Atronach stone and perk?

There is no cap on regular spell absorption, so 100% is possible. And for ward absorption, as Vaz said 75% is the maximum possible, only attainable by combining the Ward Absorb perk and Ahzidal's gauntlets. If ward absorption has a cap it is not easily known, simply because there are no other items or perks in the game that can increase it.
