You make good points with the home part, but sadly without mods you can not truly live with the Skaal (as far as I know). So the next closet part without adding mods was that home.

I think you should either choose Archery or Destruction, since using one usually tempt to "cancel out" the other. Unless you use Destruction for things like the runes and cloak spells, you will quickly find out as you play that by trying to use both skills for means of ranged offence, you'll end up either using one or the other, which is what happened with my first nightblade character.
I initially wanted to use Destruction as my mean of ranged offence, but somehow I wanted to had Archery into the mix, and by the end of the day I have been using Bows and arrows more then I have been using Destruction spells for most of the playthrought, and ended up as an archer assassin.
