    By hung, was he hung by the neck and just left his body to hand there, or was he he just tied to the tower? I would assume the whole neck hanging thing, but I'm pretty sure vampirism wouldn't protect someone from a broken neck.

    Actually, I believe he was hung in some sort of cage. He was definitely alive though, for a while.
