Thanks for the suggestions! I have edited the Rune Hammer section to reflect the inability to enchant it. I've also added your quest and Rune Master perk idea. I'd though about taking it myself, but I decided to take Poisoned for some pickpocket + alchemy synergy. Rune Master is probably the better combat choice, though.
As for game lighting in general, It always bugs me how every "abandoned" or "ancient" tomb is kept up with torches. Someone had to put them there!

I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I am!
That's a great roleplay twist, as well... playing both sides, pretending to be the savior of light. I hadn't thought about the Visage of Mzund. That + Rune Hammer could be neat in a high stamina build :) I will add it to the list. Thanks!

I've come back to this build a year later to shift some perks around, and add a few pointers. I can't find a good image for the perk spread... any suggestions?
Hope you enjoy! I have another build in the works, but I don't think it will be finished any time soon.

Really love this build, the whole wicks and oils thing really gets you into the RP! I'd swap out green thumb perk for intense flames as making potions is almost too easy with Hearthfire.
The only thing missing from this is a stat ratio so we know how you leveled this character. And to answer your question, I think just finding a good image and photo-shopping over it will be fine but the link works just as well

Oops! I could have sworn I put in a stat ratio; thanks for the catch :) I leveled my Candlemaker as 0 magicka / 3 health / 1 stamina. I'll be sure to edit that in.

really cool build and the premise is really thought out! what about using flaming familiars? almost like living candles. i know you use the spiders but didn't know if u thought about using flaming familiars.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. I did think about using both Flaming Familiars and Flame Atronachs... but I decided not to. They are fire spells, but they're Conjuration spells. Using them steals exp and focus away from Destruction, which is a key point of the build. You could always add them to your play through, though!
