Unless there's a great advantage to wearing a Matched Set (The perk isn't enough for me, even with the Shrouded bonus) I usually do piecemail, because I get sick of looking at the same outfits over, and over. With Warrior/Mage hybrids, I almost always wear "Medium" which is to say Heavy Armor with Robes to get basic protection with the magic assisting enchantments. (Vokun with Master Robes of Destruction, for example.)
By far, my favorite outfits are the "Nightmer" robes, or the slightly armored variant, both of which can be seen in that character's Build: http://theskyrimblog.ning.com/group/character-building/forum/topics/character-build-nightmer

I like the idea of a mutually exclusive weapon. At close range you just bash, correct? There is another bashing build, but I forgot what it was called. It was a quite entertaining read though.

That's all you got, but bash to get out of the melee, where you can recast, and more effectively kill. On master, it's like 3-4 Bashes with the Targe to kill a Wolf, and you'll quickly use up your Stamina that way, but you can tank for a while, create an opening while someone's stunned, and get clear. Or, let your Follower/summon do the work while you Defend yourself. Your weapon is the Bow, but you can't keep them all off of you forever, so the Targe is to keep you alive long enough to get back out where you can use the Bow again.

Great build! I like the strategy behind it. I wouldn't completely dismiss the right side of the archery tree, though, critical shot can help you get some extra damage and ranger is extremely useful, plus steady hand is great for your long range sneak attacks. With ranger, you move away from them at the same speed they move towards you, and when coupled with power shot you can handle a lot more enemies at once. I would add some stamina in there for power bash and zooming. Also, you could maybe use silent roll instead of unsneaking for mobility, which increases your chance to be detected. You did great on the conjuration, though. Overall this was a great and unique build and I hope to see more builds like this. You have my vote!
