I'll try that and let you know how it goes! Thank you both!

Awesome suggestion guys, works like a charm! Now I see running corpses in flames everywhere!

The narrative and concept for this build is outstanding.  I love the idea of a vampiric mage working to destroy the undead, daemons, and vampires.  It's a pity that the way in which Dawnguard is structured interferes with the narrative somewhat (Isran not letting you be a vampire when you side with the Dawnguard), but that apart, it works really well.

My intense dislike of Alchemy means that I can't play it, but that doesn't stop me from appreciating the immense amount of work and creativity that has gone into making this character.  I commend all of you involved with this.  It's one of the best narrative builds ever published on this site.

Thank you for the words of praise!  You know, you can play it without alchemy. Without leveling the skill one bit, all you need to do is brew two fortify restoration potions after leaving Helgen. The ingredients are easy to find. That will be enough to give you a 60% spell absorption. Sure, you won't have 100% atronach and you won't be able to buff your undead minions with poisons but the heart and soul of the build is demon hunting and you'll do that just fine.

Heck, when I ran through this during our playtest, not only did I play a Breton, I also used a sword for quite a fair bit

From what I found, if you're a Stage 1 vamp, and talk to him, you get different dialogue, but can still join

    You're welcome .

Funny you should mention that, as I've just started playing an adapted version of this build without Alchemy to see if I can make it work.  I'm keeping Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, and Restoration exactly as presented here, while adding Enchanting and possibly Illusion (mainly for buffing fire spells via Aspect of Terror).

Really?  I thought it was impossible.  I'll have to try that.  Thanks for the tip.
