Useful recipes with DLC ingredients

In a conversation here on the blog I was asked to make a list of useful potions and poisons using DLC ingredients as there is no such list on the internet. Some people refrain from using alchemy because they think it's too tedious and provides only minor bonuses but there are some amazing builds here that prove them wrong by using Alchemy very effectively. Here are some examples:

The Chemical Chameleon by Nikolaj Poulsen

    Celestial Warlock by Adrik

The Demonhunter by No snakes aLive

    The Scourge by TwistedOrthrus

The Necromancer and The Hashashin by Henson

The Morag Tong and The Salamander by Mason

This is not a complete recipe list by far and if you have any new recipes feel free to write in the comments or PM me and I’ll add them to the post crediting you for the find. Note that all the potions and poisons have at least three effects and do not require Purity perk to craft. I want to thank Ben C for the actual idea of this list, Dragon for her amazing Alchemy Guide which was very helpful in the process of the creation and Kyrielle for some of the awesome names you see here.

Dragonbron DLC ingredients are marked with brown and (DB) index

Dawnguard DLC ingredients are marked with green and (DG) index

There is one ingredient from Hearthfire DLC and it's marked with blue and (HF) index

Good stuff Alchemy is too large of a skill to make a complete comprehensive guide so this is a great start.

Thanks! I agree, it'll be a huge amount of work and in the end it'll be just a huge wall of text that nobody will bother to read

Thanks! I just thought that the color code will make it easier for people who don't have one of the DLCs

  • March 23, 2013

No, that's correct.  Skyrim, for some bizarre reason, lists Ravage Health as "concentrated poison damage" but it doesn't say to what.  It is intended to be to health, however.  I don't know why they did that, because it took me the longest time to figure that out.

It's only different with the order of effects. You've got Ravage Magicka + Ravage Health + Damage Health when in the article is Ravage Health + Ravage Magicka + Damage Health. I'll fix it now. You'll do 40 damage in total and the enemy will be able to restore only 20 points.

Yeah, they could just write "Concentrated poison damages health by 20 points" like Ravage Magicka

  • March 23, 2013

Well, I even think the whole Ravage Attribute text should be completely reworded as "concentrated poison damage" doesn't necessarily make sense to a newb.  (Or me.)

A better description would have been:

"Damages maximum <attribute> by <magnitude> points."

Which makes it clearer that "ravage" means reducing the attribute pool.

Agreed, it would've been much easier for everyone
