Diversity in Tamriel Tales! (Pie Chart!)

I got curious. How many of the dozens of long stories in Tamriel Tales, featured a Khajiit or a Bosmer protagonist? Or a Redguard or Altmer protagonist?

Rather than find out about only one race, I thought I'd make this neat little pie chart in case anyone else was curious about the diversity in our long stories. I tried to count every main character (Protagonist) in each story (for example, DOTE has 4 main characters, so I counted each of them), so long as the story was marked with the #long tag, but even still I'd say this was about 95% accurate.

I can't say I'm too surprised by the results, at least not with the Nords! I'm amazed at how many Breton main characters there are, as that is a race I've never paid much attention to. Must be their magical adeptness, huh?

So, my fellow writers and readers, did anything on this chart catch you by surprise? Why do you suppose races like Orcs, Redguards and Khajiits are a little underrepresented? I, for one, would love to see more Redguard and Bosmer protagonists. I'm unfamiliar with the lore of the former and I am a huge fan of the latter.

    P.S.

If anyone knows what to put for the tags, please let me know! If this is in the wrong section, xD then DEFINITELY let me know.

I thought there'd be more Altmer. Honestly, I think as ESO opens more locations, more Redguard and Khajiit stuff will pop up. It is difficult to write on worlds where either the lore is scant or where the worlds have not yet been built. I think we'll see more.

Oh I certainly hope so! I would love to lead the way for stories set in Valenwood, but it's admittedly daunting trying to write about a country we've only seen in ESO. I doubt the environment has changed much in Valenwood between the 2nd era and the 4th era, but let's just say I'm hoping Elder Scrolls 6 takes place in Tamriel's Garden, just so I can get some more recent information about my wood elves.

I'm surprised at the sheer number of Nords, I know it's Skyrim but that's just an absurd amount (Says the guy who has 3 Nord MC's ).

Personally I'd say the problem with many of the under-represented races (Khajiit, Orcs and Redguards) is, well what  Lissette said, they're just under-written at the moment, and creating an entire world for a couple of characters is extremely difficult. I mean, it's hard to give an Orc a backstory if we know very little of Orsinium.

Very very true. I would love to read stories written about Orcs in Orsinium, I'm a little underwhelmed by the tribal Orcs in Skyrim, so I'd love something refreshing about Orc culture to read instead.

Haha, I definitely contributed to the Nord problem! My story features two Nord brothers. Whoops!

I'm not surprised with the Nords being the highest as most stories takes place in Skyrim. Most if not all introduce one or several of the Nords as what could be considered main characters.

One thing I'm curiose about is with my story. No doubt you counted Sotek but I wonder who else you decided upon as to be main characters if any.

It would be interesting to see how this changes with TES 6 when they release it. And no, it won't be in Tamriels Garden. It will be in Tamriels Marshes.... Blackmarsh...

    Hsssss!!!

Wonder how many Werewolves v vampires there are. (vampires didn't get a capital v. Can't think of a single reason why they deserve one )

I only counted Sotek! Would you like me to count Aela? I believe that pushes the Nord count up to 20.

Marshes? Noooooooooo. Just kidding. TES 6 set in Blackmarsh would be awesome.

Good question! Fleabags or leeches, eh? Haha do werebears count towards the werewolf total?
I actually didn't encounter too many of either group, when I looked at all the TOCs. I think 2 on each side.

How can Bosmer be more popular to write about than Khajiit? How can Bretons beat Imperials for inspirational writing material? That pie chart reflects some deep insight into the minds of your average tongue-biting blogger and prompts much face-palming.

    Good job.

I swear it's not rigged. Promise! ;) and to be fair, there's only a smidgen of difference between the Imperial numbers and the Breton numbers, haha.

What race would you like to see more of?

I expected Argonians to be 2nd/3rd highest since...well DOTE, U.O.T.W... etc.

I guess Mer races are one par with each other (minus Orsimers). I could understand that since most story tellers view only the Thalmor or the Dominion when they try to make an Altmer character (except you, Lissette and a few others.)

Imperials are third highest? Could someone list me a few long stories that feature Imperial characters, other than mine or Karver's Cursed Tribe.
