Welcome to our newest character building event! This one is potentially very interesting, we're going to be taking a look at some of the various factions discoverable in the Elder Scrolls series and creating builds to reflect their skill sets and history in Tamriel.
To keep things more creative for this event you must select a faction that isn't actually joinable in the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Inspiration should be taken from lore or your own experiences in previous games.
There's a huge amount of creative freedom here; when looking back over the past few games there have been many amazing factions that either haven't been joinable (The Black Worm), not fleshed out properly (Order of the Rising Sun), or existed so long ago they're now only hinted about in books.
What would it now mean to be a member of these factions in Skyrim? How would they react to being Dragonborn and what shouts would they use? How would they interact with the new joinable factions? What equipment and weaponry would they use?

UESP - Factions Looking for inspiration? This is the perfect start and also confirms what a faction actually is.
ALL builds created as part of this event will be placed into their own unique rank in the character building group and sorted in 'Hall of Fame' format. I will be available over private messaging throughout the whole event and while I won't help you write your build I will happily steer your build in the right direction if you need me to.

Looks like doing an event for my first build was biting off more than I could chew. Got to level 20 or so and realized that while the RP was decent, the gameplay was pretty bland. Rather than half-ass it, I'm bowing out. Better to admit defeat than post something subpar!

Thanks Ben! I tried to break things up a bit, and began a new character in my usual playstyle to run concurrently. Turns out, with more focused RP, it's been my favorite playthrough in a long time, and that's my focus now. Already in the mid 30s, which is an anomaly, given my constant restart-itis!

fIn Oblivion and Skyrim, "Faction" in the game data is used to categorize NPCs, largely for disposition purposes. Most of them aren't what we would call factions in everyday language, but they're useful categorizations in the game data. For example, "Two Handed Trainer" is obviously not a faction, but the game uses it to tag the NPCs in game that train Two-Handed.
I would say that a particular tribe of Orcs is probably a faction. But tribal Orcs in general would probably not count unless you can make the argument that they have some sort of unity by that name.
