Intro: This build came from my long love of Japanese culture during "Sengoku Jidai" the age of the country at war. It is a revamp of the old character build "Bushido", and one of my favorite builds to play. So I present to the people of the Skyrim Blog, "Bushido 2.0."

Backstory: Upon the plains of Akavir you were raised. Your clan was an agricultural powerhouse providing much of the regions grain supply. But the one thing your clansmen took more pride in then their farms, was their skill as warriors. Since you were old enough to walk, you dedicated your life to "Bushido", the way of the warrior. Sword and bow acted as your right and left arms, and honor and glory made up your soul. By the time you reached age 15, you had learned all of what Akavir could teach about the blade and bow, but you felt incomplete and needed to master each weapon in its entirety. So you sought another place to train and pursue harmony through "Bushido" and that place was Tamriel. It is in Tamriel that you will become a master of combat and it is in Tamriel that you will discover your true identity as Dragonborn.

    Races: Redguard, Nord, or Imperial.

Stones: First Warrior, then Steed or Lord.

Stat Allocation: 0 to Magika, 2 to Health, 1 to Stamina

Major Skills: One Handed, Two Handed, Archery, and Block

Minor Skills: Heavy Armor, Smithing, and Enchanting

Shouts: Whirlwind Sprint, Elemental Fury, Disarm, Marked for Death, and Slow Time.

    Perks: http://skyrimperkcalculator.com/384054

Essential Quests: Obviously the main story is absolutely necessary. Without it you can't get blades armor or Dragonbane. Mephala's quest is also important, especially if you want a No Daichi katana (The Ebony Blade).

Roleplaying: While rolplaying "Bushido", you must keep one thing in mind, HONOR. Honor is the core of this character. Seek to defeat all enemies fairly. Don't use sneak attacks and don't poison them. Both of these are tactics more akin to shinobi rather than samurai. Another thing that should be obeyed is, allowing a yielding foe to return to their feet. Killing them while they are down is one of the most dishonorable things you could do. Also while roleplaying "Bushido", seek to master you're fighting styles. Meaning, leveling a skill all the way up to legendary. That will represent true perfection of that weapon or skill. This part is not necessary for your minor skills. The people of Skyrim, are very warlike. They like to fight their problems out, so it is a good place for the character to hone his martial skills. One other thing about Skyrim is that the Nords are good farmers in their own right, and this strikes home for you character. Help farmers as much as possible and if you are in need of money, harvest their crops for them. When confronted with the Civil War, the choice is yours. Samurai served the emperor but in the late 1800's, samurai rebelled against the Imperial army do to the "Sword ban" and other corrupt laws. So you can side with either faction in the war. Also, the blades conundrum is a topic of great debate, so whether or not to kill your teacher is your choice (I used mods to get out of it).

Playstyle: This can go hand in hand with roleplaying, but essentially, honorable combat is the main thing. Try your best to meet your foes in one on one situations. In a one on one combat situation you can really get immersed in the build. Instead of finishing the fight quickly, focus on blocking and countering your opponent's attacks. It will drive the idea of an intense duel between warriors. That way when you defeat your foe, you will have a stronger sense of achievement. Now as far as combat goes, you should focus on the sword as much as possible. The bow is important as well but samurai were renowned for their swordsmanship.  Also blocking with your sword instead of a shield is equally important to the theme of the build. Cavalry fighting is another important part of the build. Mounted combat was used vastly during "Sengoku Jidai" and the samurai were also master horsemen. So when in an open field or, in an equally opportune position, use your horse to get the upper hand on difficult foes (Giants, Trolls, Bears).

    Special Moves:

Bushido Rage: Dual wielding Blades Swords, Elemental Fury- Kind of self explanatory but using Blades Swords while in elemental fury turns you into a whirlwind of death. It is also important to have a high stamina pool for this move because you can execute multiple power attacks in a couple seconds.

Samurai Focus: Slow Time- This is a simple move that I use until I get the Block perk that slows time, and the Archery perk that slows time. Samurai had constant focus in combat and this move represents that. While time is slowed, you can dodge arrows, counter attacks, and deliver counter attacks against your foes.

Dovahkiin Seppuku: Refusal to use shouts- I am well aware that Seppuku is ritual suicide, but this is my take on it for the character. If you choose to kill Paarthurnax (just like a samurai taking his life at the death of a samurai's master) you will cease using your shouts. Since killing yourself in a build is outlandish, I thought this would be an interesting take on Seppuku for Skyrim.

    Equipment:

Weapons: Blades Sword, Dragonbane, Balor's Oathblade, Ebony Blade, Froki's Bow, and Long Bow( although they are weak, I find that the Long Bow looks the most like the Japanese Yumi Bow).

Armor: The Blades armor is a given, but if you are in town, college robes can look similar to a kimono or villager robes.

Conclusion: My pictures for the build came from the T.C.G (trading card game), Legend of the Five Rings. The warriors represented are from the lion clan in the game. I hope was revamp was a significant improvement. As always comment, and like if you deem it worthy. But only provide constructive criticism please so that I can improve the build.

"Character Build:" needs to be in your title I think! And I suggest "Character Build: Bushido" and drop the way of the warrior!

Hey Kyle. Problem with this build is that it's what most people play as when they first get the game (melee with a splash of archery). You added an Akaviri vibe, but it's not strong enough to differentiate the build, IMO. You should have picked either one of the styles you mentioned and focused 100% on it.

Now that the Ebony Blade is officially fixed, you could work something really deep around it, as its roleplaying potential is huge. It's a great looking sword and, due to its unusually fast speed, can probably be worked into a kickass gaming style. I've been thinking of doing this myself but I have way too many builds in my head as it is.

It's difficult to create a warrior build these days, since it's been so long since 11/11/11.

A couple of suggestions I have is to build on the back story, that's one thing you can make unique to you.

Focus on one fighting style, although it would seem rather standard, its nigh impossible to create a warrior build that's unique.

Enhance the role play element, list ways to portray bushido into the game, maybe give a couple of hypothetical scenarios. When in towns make sure you keep a set of robes on you to change into.

Never sneak and never murder in cold blood.

Another thing I suggest is putting the perk spreads into pictures, a lot of the more recognised builds in the group do this for good reason.

As you may be able to tell from my name this sort of thing interests me and it could create a unique role play if done correctly.

In summary, make sure the build is solid, but focus on other aspects to make it unique, because you aren't going to make a unique pure warrior build.

Great suggestions, and thank you for your input. I will consider all that you have said highly and edit the build when I can put it all onto paper, so to speak. This build was going to be part of a series of Bushido builds, so thats why I made this one sort of a balanced warrior, because other parts of the series will be more specialized

The problem I ran into was not having enough space to put all I needed on the build. I encountered a character limit and I also don't have photoshop or anything. However I do appreciate your input and advice.

I use photoshop frequently, I have never helped out on a build but I could have a go at helping you with a perk spread if you wanted.

All right, that would be cool. It would also be the first time anyone on the website has helped me with a build so thanks.

Pretty cool samurai inspired build. I like the tiny tie into the Akaviri culture. Could use a bit more expansion in some areas, but I like reading so any more in depth you can make it would be cool.
