Dammit, the only time they open up applications for hosts and there's no open spot for the Story Corner.
The Lore Group is certainly interesting... I probably can't handle the meta-stuff, but general lore and all... yeah.
You know what, fuck it, I'll just apply for the Lore Group. :)

Good luck to everyone else who wants to become a host or guide.
To be honest with you Loops there is no qualification or specific skillset to make somebody perfect for the position, or if there are they can be easily identified and perhaps can be categorised as virtues rather than skills :)
It's like, there's nothing I do which requires any skill, thankfully :D It's more just about having a passion for what we do or the various parts of the site that interest us, being friendly, supportive, engaging, and working well enough with others that the interactions become self-sustaining and part of why we enjoy doing it.
Those things often boil down to little more than a desire to help, you know? Just a simple and honest wish to help others and the site. How those things appear in practice can vary from person to person as each Host or Guide has their own personality and priorities, but ulimately I think each Host we have has heeded the call out of a desire to make a difference. However small that difference is, it still matters hugely. When someonbody likes a member's first build, or takes the time to read and engage with an RP Profile, or leaves a comment on a WiP or picture... these things can make someone's day. Our Hosts make people's day all the time, and in return they often find a friend in that person and find that member supporting their own work so that the process becomes reciprocal.
In a microcosm it's the feedback loop that makes us all come back. That's not to say individual members don't do that, just that a Host or Guide makes it more of a regular thing and part of their schedule, whether that be daily, every few days, or just of a weekend. Catching up with the work of other members of their groups or creating something to inspire others, while requiring a degree of dedication, is not much more than a focus on the things we love and a desire to make those things happen more often.
So, honestly, if you or anyone is tempted but has a feeling that everything written dosn't apply to them or being nagged at by self-doubt, just drop us a line and we can have a chat :)
Damn, that response though. Alright, you've persuaded me, I'll give it a go. Thanks.

What the hey, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to apply. What could possibly go wrong?
I've never done this sort of thing before but I'm willing to try & learn.
