Hey Phil. Consoles can stream to twitch as well. The xboxone has the capabilities to stream to twitch with no added fuss as well as the ps4. If you wish to stream other consoles ps4,xbox360,wii u ect then you have to have a small device called a capture card. A capture card is the size of most cell phones and it conencts to your pc and to the console at the same time. Then it also connects via hdmi cable to the television. There are many types of capture cards depending on what quality and frame rate you wish to stream at. My capture card is the elgato hd 60. It has the power to stream 1080p at 60 frames per second. It is around 150.00.
The webcam I use is a logitech c920. It costs around 100.00 and is the best at the moment for streaming. It is plug and play and is very easy to get working.
The next item you will want on your pc is the streaming software. Most capture cards come with a onboard software but this is very cluncky and not user friendly. So there are alternatives to this called obs or xsplit. obs is free but it is all up to you to set it up but it is more customizable. Xsplit has a free version and a paid version. The difference is in what resolutions you can set and at what frame rates. The paid version unlocks the best in all categories but I use the free version and it suits me well. I have used obs and xsplit and hands down xsplit is what I prefer. Any questions from yourself or anyone else who reads this feel free to message me or for a faster response visit my twitch.
