My first RPG was Oblivion. And I disliked it so much that it kept me away from RPGs for almost three years. I just didn't like the art style (character design has to be the BIGGEST facepalm in gaming history), the combat was unappealing, boring soundtrack, bleh...
Skyrim was the one that got me into RPGs. I decided to give ES another chance, and I am glad I did. But this post isn't about Skyrim.
After Skyrim, I noticed that my brother had Morrowind, so I ended up playing it. A much bigger improvement over Oblivion in all regards except some mechanics. Morrowind has hands down the best lore out of the 3 newest ES games (not including ESO), the best soundtrack, best enemy design, etc. If you haven't played Morrowind, you are missing out big time.
I then decided to try out Oblivion again and I still hated it.
My opinion Morrowind=Skyrim>Oblivion
*grabs popcorn*

I just thought it was funny that Prisoner put "the Blades aren't dicks". It does seem like they are a constant theme in each game though. I dunno about Arena, but I think you're a Blade in Daggerfall, right?

I think the towns and cities are procedurally generated each time you enter them, can't say the same about where they're located as I haven't played that much.
The game is large enough that walking to two dot markers that touch on the map takes like 10-15 minutes with my average athletics skill, almost never meet enemies unless you use the wait option, so it can feel so empty at times that I always use fast travel.
The size is there, it just isn't as densely filled as Morrowind. (Also Daggerfall has flails, they're cool)

In Daggerfall you're basically a former prisoner who earns the trust of the emperor due to their visions of you, just like the Hero of Kvatch in Oblivion.

I remember Ponty posted a guide a while ago which allowed you to very quickly basically remove the chance thing from melee combat. I'll see if I can find a link.
