I'm unsure what to think of ESO. I'm watching the quests on YouTube and they already screwed up lore a few times.
There is a temple to the Eight Divines on Auridon and those divines are Mara, Stendarr, Jephre, Syrabane, Magnus, Xarxes, Trinimac and Anu. There is a book near each shrine and in the book for Anu it's said to bless Auri-El...
You can kill Molag Bal in ESO but I'm not sure what effect it takes, I only saw that it's possible (quite dumb as well) and there may be some Aedra help there, I didn't watch the main storyline yet. If you're interested on where I watch it, it's here: Link
And here is the temple video: Cleansing Torinaan
To reiterate my point, there needs to be a new criteria for what is Aedra and what is not if Aedra is to remain meaning gods.
Every race has their own lore about it. Kyne is called the mother of men in nordic tales. Does that make Men on par with Elves as who is a child of the gods?
There is a distinction between the term Aedra for men and mer. For elves it's the spirits who gave their power to stabilize Nirn.
For men following Imperial doctrine it's simply the deities in the Imperial pantheon.
That creates confusion and misunderstanding every time. Imperial can call Talos an Aedra and he will be right and Altmer can say that he's not an Aedra and he will be right too
