Healing hands does indeed have a taper mechanic, the problem is the duration is *only* 0.3 seconds so it's of limited use in regards to boosting it. Next week we'll see how a longer duration can be used for incredible fun!

Great stuff, James!
What's amazing to me is that Destruction magic is always getting badmouthed on the Bethesda forums as weak. Yeah, compared to highly upgraded weapons your basic Destro spells will lag. But these methods you're discussing seem so straightforward it's surprising to me that no one, to my knowledge, has ever pointed out the crazy effectiveness of Fortify Potions + Dualcasting + Augmented Perks + Necromage. Maybe because Necromage is always getting co-opted for Necromage vampire use rather than its (probably intended) function as an offensive, anti-undead perk.
I'm looking forward very much to the next articles!

If I'm correct, it's better than most people realize!
Fun Fact: My original draft for this was over 20 pages in Word...before pictures. Splitting it up into 3 different discussions was a necessity. It's hard to believe sometimes but I actually edit a lot of stuff out before posting these!

I think some frost spells might also taper... at least they appear to do so. But it's probably similarly short-lived.
So is Necromage the only way to increase the taper duration?

I don't think any frost spells have it, shock spells do but the duration is only 0.1s so it's not of much use.
Necromage is the only way to modify the taper mechanics as far as I can tell. I'm confident in saying they never intended for it to work this way because it is broken as all hell as we'll see next week.
I spent quite a bit of time trying to find any information on these topics and I couldn't even find an accurate description of what the taper mechanics are, let alone how they work, so I'm not entirely sure if anyone has really ever looked into them until now.

I aim to show that, particularily against the undead, FireStorm is the most broken and OP spell in the game. I was able to 1-shot a group of three Volkihar vampires on Master difficulty yesterday, it is literally game breaking.
Death Overlord's have a bit more health so you need slightly stronger potions but it's still doable on Master. My goal is to break this game without using glitches and bugs, so far this is one of the best methods.
