The Second Door

Recently, I've been looking for a cave (with an alchemy lab and smithing equipment) that should be located near one of the player-houses, but all of the potencial locations didn't really fit. So what I did to work around this was roleplaying that a specific door to the outside, in one of the custom- or city-houses, would lead to the entrance of a cave which would normaly be 'inaccessable' (in this case far, far away). Kinda like the (secret) door in Wayne Manor that leads to the Batcave.
Stepping through said door doesn't really take you there, but once you're outside you can open the map and fast travel to the desired location. This way, you can roleplay like the house connects to your favorite underground base (or whatever), be it via a tunnel or some kind of elevator/portal.

    Positive:
    • Connect any outside-door to a desired location

    Negative:
    • 4 loading screens in total (enter house/starting point, open door to the outside, fast travel to location, enter location) instead of two (fast travel, enter location)

There you have it. It's called "The Second Door" because it isn't really a shortcut, rather some kind of a portal-door.

Like this. My only concern, can you spot the passage of time? That for me would break immersion. If I step outside at noon and fast travel, I would prefer not to see the night sky when I arrive. If a location could be found that doesn't break that suspension of disbelief by showing too much of time of day I would use this

If you open the menu/map right after the loading screen (after using the door), you will barely see anything of your suroundings and the travel time is more or less justified by the fact that it takes a bit to actually go through said tunnel/portal (portals in fact do have a travel time). Alternatively, you can 'wait' (right after arriving at the desired location) until you get to your starting-time.
Or just dont look up and 'wait' inside the cave :D.
