Faction Profile: The Goldpact Order

  • March 16, 2016

This is a repost of my faction, getting it back here, where it can be seen. If there will be interest I start working on new assignements again. Just remember:

    No in-character roleplay post-by-post!

If we´ll stick to that, we´re good.

The Order was founded by Pelaex Furodius in the province of Cyrodiil sometime before the Great War. Pelaex was a true knight, a member of the Order of the Dragon, but also a member of the Fighters Guild. He believed in helping people, but the Fighters Guild slowly became incompetent and lazy. All they cared about was only taking easy jobs, so as to get money fast.

For this reason, Pelaex left the Figthers Guild and started working on his own. At the beginning, he was inclined towards helping people without taking money, but being on his own was an expensive endeavour. And then he realized that by taking contracts the Fighters Guild was too lazy to do, he was earning much more money.

And that was the point when the Goldpact Knights were founded. Pelaex took an apprentice, a squire at that time. And after some time, that apprentice took his own apprentice, and the Order slowly grew.

But again, Pelaex was disappointed, because his followers were more interested in money than in helping people. And in that moment, the founder of the Goldpact Order realized, that it couldn't  be any other way. So he laid the foundations of the Goldpact dogma, where money is "worshipped" in the place of gods. So they became a mercenary order.

They scattered across Tamriel, seeking a way to earn gold and help people at the same time. They have abandoned the gods for gold and become an atheistic order of professional mercenaries.

    Never forfeit a contract.

Once you accept a contract, you are sworn to complete it, even if you have to die trying. You will never accept bribes from people who want you to not pursue the contract. Your word is a sacred oath, so you never break the Goldpact. Unless the terms change, and you find out that the Goldpact wasn´t struck with good intentions.

Never refuse a contract if there is even a small reward.

Some people might not be rich, but if they are willing to pay you with what little they have, you are obliged to accept that contract. It also prevents you from haggling for a higher reward. The Goldpact was created to help people in need as well as to give rewards to those who follow it, not to extort money from the poor.

Never accept a contract to murder someone in cold blood.

The Goldpact is a way of honor, not of crime. Murderers and those who revel in bloodshed are not welcomed.

Stay away from gods and Daedra.

This rule was created to help Goldpact Knigths stay on the Path of the Goldpact. If there are gods or not, they give people nothing for their devotion. That´s why the gold is their reward. It is much more than any god can give them. As for the Daedra...Nothing good ever came from dealing with them; we are nothing in their eyes. But they take even that nothing from us. If you want to live, stay away from anything related to the Daedra.

The dogma is simple and serves as simple way to keep Goldpact Knights on their Path. It doesn´t force them to worship some distant god, to bring sacrifices or pray on their knees. They are expected to fight, bleed and die for a reward they want.

The Goldpact order doesn´t require the Knigths to wear a fixed set of equipment. On the contrary, the Goldpact emphasises that they should be equipped with whatever suits their skills.

But how do you recognize a fellow Goldpact Knight? Their members are expected to be skilled in the use of swords - mainly silver swords. They always carry a silver sword with the Goldpact sigil on it´s handle.

Because the Goldpact doesn´t require it´s members to be proficient in certain skills, anyone who is willing to pick up the sword and abandon the gods as they abandoned the mortals is accepted into the order.

The Knights are lone wolves by nature, so there are no ranks in the Order; everyone is equal. No one is in charge of the Order these days, but other Knights usually listen to Recruiters.

Knights usually specialize in what kind of work suits them best:

    Bounty Hunter

Knights skilled with the bow, blade and stealth usually choose to hunt renegades and bandits in the wilds and around the roads, if there is a bounty on their heads, of course. These Knights are the most common, proficient duelists and archers who know that the element of surprise can save their life, because numbers are never in the Knight´s favor.

     Beast Slayer

Those who prefer light armor and the bow are best suited for hunting down the dangerous beasts that plague many settlements across Tamriel. These Knights usually hunt Minotaurs and Ogres in Cyrodiil, but in Skyrim their most common prey are Trolls, Giants, Spriggans and wild animals like bears and sabercats.

     Bodyguard

If you are profficient with a shield and heavy armor, then protecting merchants or nobles is the best line of work for you. The roads of Tamriel are dangerous and so are the courts and palaces. Keeping people who can´t protect themselves safe can be very profitable too.

    Undead Slayer

Knights who know something about Restoration tend to become slayers of the undead and vampires. While there aren´t many jobs available, they are very well paid. But to keep themselves busy, the Knights often ally themselves with the Dawnguard in their quest to eradicate the vampires from the face of Tamriel.

     Treasure Hunter

Those who have some knowledge of the Alteration and Destruction schools of magic usually spend most of their time in dangerous tombs and ruins looking for valuable artifacts. There are people who pay very much gold for such artifacts, and the Knight usually works closely with certain buyers and scholars, to uncover long buried secrets.

     Recruiter

Older Knights who survive long enough to be considered old often become Recruiters as a sort of retirement. Their job is to look for people who are willing to head out on the Path of the Goldpact, to teach them how to stay alive and how to stay true to the Goldpact. Other Knights hold these old wolves in respect, often taking advice and commands from them.

    Witchhunter

Knights with some skills in Enchanting often choose to use this knowledge against dangerous spellcasters and witches. Enchanting their Silver Swords with Damage Magicka or Banish Daedra and their armor with Resist Magic enchantments, makes them formidable foes for Necromancers, Witches, Warlocks and Hagravens throuout the Skyrim.

The Knights don´t stay for long in one place, but in Skyrim they can consider Fort Dawnguard their retreat. They called that ruin theirs until the Dawnguard showed up and since then, they share the fort together.

The Goldpact usually doesn´t allow the Knights to settle down; their home is their armor and their blanket their cloak. They live and die in their armor, using it to sleep under the stars or in dark caves. But the tavern is always preferable.

    Name: Decimus Merotim

    Alias: The Old Blade

    Specialization: Recruiter

Reason for Joining: “Gods piss on the common folk. I was a farmer, but after bandits burned down crops and the house of my family for the fourth time, I´ve decided that I don´t want to be helpless anymore.”

    Name: Teineeva

    Alias: The Archivist

    Specialization: Bounty Hunter

Reason for Joining: My alias comes from my habit of listing each and every Bounty I ever collected, their names, and how I killed them. The list is getting quite long so I thought, why not join the Goldpact? After all what have those lousy gods ever done for me, or the men on my list.

    Name: Cinda

    Alias: Silver Crone

    Specialization: Recruiter

Reason for Joining: "In my youth I was a Companion, but the then Harbinger's plan to go back on his Forefather's word disgusted me so I left. And when I learned of a group for whom their word was their bond I leaped at the chance to join."

    Name: Adrian Verus

    Alias: N/A

    Specialization: Bounty Hunter

Reason for Joining: Growing up on a farm is boring.  I saw the Goldpact Knights as adventure, gold and a cool name. I don't have one yet but soon.

    Name: Pyrite Aurous

    Alias: The Golden Orc

    Specialization: Treasure Hunter

Reason For Joining: I've been a merc as long as I can remember. Always rushing toward the next shining coin or sparkling gem, obsessing over my next big payday. In the pursuit of wealth I've done things I'm not proud of. I guess I just got tired of being the bad guy.

    Name: Wilmus Argarnesen

    Alias: Colossus

    Specialization: Treasure Hunter

Reason for joining: I found myself in honorhall orphanage as a child. I was cast out from there at age of 17 for rebelling again Grelod's oppression. Ever since I have worked hard for my living. I never found a faction that is so much as free as this. So I would like to join.

    Name: Litan

Alias: "Um, Cinda just calls me boy..."

    Specialization: Witchhunter

Reason for Joining: "U-um Miss Cinda approached me in an inn and asked if I could use the sword on my back and if I wanted to join an Order of Knights... she said something about carrying the Silver."

    Name: Cornielius Axiuel

    Alias: Silver Titan

    Specialization: Bounty Hunter

Reason for Joining: "my father taught me 2 things 1- your word is worth your life, and 2- gold is more sacred than the divines, as a god may give a blessing but gold, gold can save lives." and so now after becoming an adventurer, and being promptly knocked out in Cyrodil, and waking up in a cave in Skyrim, gold and honor is all I have left.

    Name: Clavicus Logir

Alias: The blade in the night, The Hunter.

    Specialization: Beast Slayer

Reason for joining: I like helping people, I have stolen food and hunted it to give to beggars, and I do plenty of jobs for common folk. I was taught by my mum to always bind yourself by your word, and let it be your law. I always lived by that, but when I tried to worship the gods, they ended up with nothing for me. Who needs em! Oh, and I need more money, I hunt for food but extra coin is always good.

    Name: Ossien of Sunhold

    Alias: The Raven

    Specialization: Treasure Hunter

Reason for Joining: "It never hurts to have allies in Skyrim. I hope a little 'friendly competition' between fellow treasure hunters is approved of."

    Name:Sandis

Alias: "I dont give a Scamps Ass what you call me"

Specialization: "Im a Witch hunter. Have been for the Last 300 years of my life"

Reason for joining: "Im one of the Best fucking Witchhunters there are. And this Order can Benefit from me as much as i can Benefit from it"

Contracts are assigned once a week, and each specialization has it´s own contract though you are not prevented for completing other contracts. On the contrary you are encoureged to complete them because that way you´ll earn more gold and move higher in the leaderboard.

The contracts themselves are quite easy to understand. Most specializations have simple goal: Find and eliminate. It can be clearing a dungeon of draugr, camp of bandits or hunting down dangerous animal.

There are only two exceptions and those are Bodyguard and Recruiter.

Bodyguard´s job is to keep someone safe, which means that you could either travel with Khajiit Caravan from one city to another, or just escort someone from the point A to the point B.

Recruiter usually recruits a person and then takes him along on one of the contracts. That means that Recruiters have to complete any Contract of other specializations, but they have to keep their recruit alive for the whole time.

As for the rewards, after you post a screenshot of your finished contract, you´ll be given “gold” as your reward. The amount depends on your Specialization. If you complete contract that is meant for your specialization, you´ll earn 100 Septims. Any other completed contract will earn you 50 Septims.

If you´re not a Recruiter but you´ll do his Contract, you´ll earn 50 Septims, even if you bring the follower on your given contract for your specialization. So make sure to do your specialization contract first, than the others.

    The Rift Contracts

Bounty Hunter - People of Riften complained about lair of bandits very close to the city, where bandits conduct illegal animal fights. You´re going to stop those activities at Faldar´s Tooth.

Beasts Slayer - Klimmek from the Ivarstead complained about not being able to deliver supplies to some hermits on the mountain, because Frost Troll decided to make these "steps" his new home. Get rid of him.

Bodyguard - There is a rumor that some bard from Riverwood wants to make a journey to Riften, but he needs protection. He will be paying with gold.

Undead Slayer - They say that the Ivarstead is haunted. It is probably nothing, but maybe you could check the Nordic Ruin nearby. Just to be sure.

Treasure Hunter - Bard´s College is looking for pieces of something they call: "Gauldur´s Amulet" There is possibility that it can be found in the Geirmund´s Hall.

Recruiter - There might a new promising recruit to our Order. One of the Khajiit caravan´s guard, Kharjo, seems like he´s a material for new Knight. Find out how tough he is.

Witchhunter - Authorities of Riften got word from some Illia, that there are Hagravens in Darklight Tower. The city guard won´t do a thing about it though. This is good chance to earn some money.

    The Eastmarch Contracts

Bounty Hunter - "It seems that some bandits made lair in the Uttering Hills Cave, very close to Windhelm. Jarl´s men are occupied with the civil war, so he put up a bounty on these bandits."

Beast Slayer - "There are reports that Cronvangr Cave has become lair of Frostbite Spiders. Traveling anywhere around it is dangerous for anyone, plus Nurelion in Windhelm will surely pay for some Frostbite Venom."

Bodyguard - "Roggi Knot-Beard is looking for someone who would help him put some ghosts in Abandoned Prison to rest. One of his ancestors died in that tower, so he´s willing to pay if someone helps him."

Undead Slayer - "People are talking about undead walking out of Ansilvund. Something - or someone - is raising them back to life. That means good money for people."

Treasure Hunter - "Calcelmo learned about dwemer ruin called Kagrenzel and he is looking for someone who would explore it for him. Calcelmo is know to pay handsomely."

Recruiter - "Annekke from Darkwater Crossing seems like good candidate for the Goldpact Order. She is a miner, but she´s bored and she was an adventurer back in her day, so one of our Recruiters should check on her."

Witchhunter - "Cragwallow Slope is rumored to be inhabited by Conjurers and surely there will be a bounty on their heads. Surprise them."

    Solstheim Contracts

This week I have decided to make something more challenging, so here we have Solstheim Contracts.

Bounty Hunter - "The Damphall Mine was flooded some time ago and reavers now call it a home. Raven Rock is willing to pay decent sum if someone clears that mine of vermin, so they could re-open it."

Beast Slayer - "Broken Tusk Mine is home to a raiding party of riekliengs, and that´s something that bothers the Raven Rock´s Councilor. He would like to claim that Mine for Raven Rock, but he doesn´t have enough manpower to clear it. Offering your services will surely yield a reward."

Bodyguard - "That damn wizard is looking for his steward (who is probably dead), but you might offer your help to him, because he seems to be rich and willing to pay. Find him a new servant and make sure that he or she arrives safely at Tel Mithryn."

Undead Slayer - "Raven Rock Mine has been closed for some time and it seems it´s swarming with the undead now. Councilor Morvayn is willing to pay to whoever clear that mine before those undead dig out."

Treasure Hunter -"Calcelmo discovered that Kagrumez holds one of the rarest Dwemer artifacts - Dwarven Black Bow. He will pay a lot of money to get his hands on it."

Recruiter - "Talvas Fathryon from Tel Mithryn might a mage, but he´s certainly not satisfied with being Neloth´s apprentice. Maybe he would like to join our Order."

Witchhunter - "People said that they saw strange creatures at Frostmoon Crag, but they aren´t very specific. When they went there during the day, it was a camp full of hunters, but in the night...strange creatures. And dangerous."

    Hates-The-Dead: 100 Septims

    Mad Hunter: 150 Septims

    Cinda: 350 Septims

    Teineeva: 450 Septims

    The Golden Orc:  400 Septims

    Adrian Vernus: 200 Septims

    Colossus: 150 Septims

    Litan: 300 Septims

    Ossien of Sunhold: 100 Septims

That's correct. Feel free to post them here or move over any you have from the FRP group, the only rule is no play-by-post.

So I'm new here and I was wondering if you could tell me how the whole faction profile thing works, sorry if this is a dumb question but its kinda over my head.

    Thanks!

    -Zephyr

  • May 2, 2016

Hey, Zephyr. It´s quite easy actually. Faction Profile gives you an option to make a character specificaly for that faction. You make character in Skyrim, in-game, and you´ll go out, completing those assignements. You take a screenshot when you complete it, I´ll give gold to your character.

It´s basicaly just roleplaying fun, giving you quests and such. Though it´s some time since I made new set of Contracts. Don´t have that much time anymore.

I said it multiple times before. If I´ll see that people are interested in it again (at least 3-4), I´ll start making Contracts again.

Put me down for an undead slayer. I promise to not make them religious. LOL I will be good and think of something interesting and outside of the box.

Okay, thanks for telling me how it works.
