  Magic resistance caps at 85%. However, adding to this you can build elemental resitance to achieve ~98% resistance to the elements and 85% resistance against all types of magic.

  The Aetherial Crown paired with the Apprentice Stone, a permanent Atronach stone, and Fortify Restoration offsets the magical weakness of the Apprentice Stone.

  However I've definitely heard that the Apprentice Stone's bonus magicka regen applies only out of combat... which makes it fairly worthless.

  Of course, while 85% magic resistance is all well and good, at a certain point it just becomes a reduction of an already trivial amount to an even more trivial amount. I'm personally of the opinion that 85% is sufficient and stacking elemental resistances on top of that is overkill; maybe it's different on Master or Legendary (I play on Expert).
