Console Quicksave

  • July 24, 2015

I told this to a friend a few minutes ago and her mind was apparently blown because she and her brother played for years and never knew this so I thought I'd post it here for other people who don't really mess around with autosave features. How it works:

1- Disable all auto-saves (new area, rest, fast travel, etc)

    2- Enable auto-save on wait.

3- Press select/back press X or A to wait for 1 hours and there it is.

You don't even need to wait the hour, just press Circle or B a few times and as soon as it saves you can get back to playing.

Note: You can't wait in combat, which is perfectly reasonable because you should be punished for dying.

Or you could use Kinect and say "Quicksave" :)

I honestly don't know anyone who still uses their Kinect for anything lol

    Or their Wii

I have Auto-Saving/Quick-Saving disabled completely because of freezing issues

Seriously? You can say "Quicksave" or " Quickload" or many other commands and it shall be done. You can Shout by actually shouting, in English or Dragon. It's 1 of the few advantages of a console over a PC. I use it constantly

Maybe but most of my friends never bothered to buy the kinect in the first place because like any sane person they were against the whole motion control games. Plus idk many people who live alone so they just wouldnt feel comfortable shouting at their tv xD their roommates and families would've given them strange looks.

I actually bought my Xbox for Kinect: exercise + gaming Ftw! And yes I also have a Wii, gathering dust. Don't you use Siri/Cortana/Google voice search? It's just like that, although you do have to raise your voice sometimes. And it doesn't always ays work, and often responds to in game dialogue. And farts - seriously. And yes, I mostly live alone :)

Voice-activated computing? Only recently it was sci-fi: now it's real! I love it

That reminds me - have you seen my short story about Idesto? That's about what happened when Kinect Went Wrong ;)

That's really cool; I had no idea you could do this! Probably not a whole lot of people out there for whom this will really apply and/or change anything, but still good to know.

As for the OP, I could've sworn we had a thread like this a while back. But I can't find it, so I must've seen it somewhere else (or just figured it out on my own and never posted anywhere). It's a solid tip in any case. Especially useful for testing things on consoles. Just be sure not to wait or fast travel three times after you use this trick, or you'll lose your "quicksave"!

With that in mind, it's probably best used right before a big fight, or attempting to pickpocket a target, or something along those lines.

Isn't it easier just to say "Quicksave" if you have Kinect or similar?  Or has talking become unhip amongst us internet people? I must have missed that memo. Why go through all this rigmarole, and feel the need to post about it, when all you have to do is say a 2-syllable word? I must be missing something here

It is easier, if you have Kinect. I believe the majority of 360 owners do not have/use Kinect, which is the subset I'm referring to when I say there are many people to whom that particular tip does not apply (and who, therefore, do stand to benefit from Naeg's original tip). Your tip is certainly good to know for anyone who does play on 360 and use Kinect, but since that's only a small portion of Skyrim's player base, it doesn't invalidate Naeg's tip. They're both helpful, for different subsets of the player base.
