How 'Bleeding Damage' works in Skyrim

This was just some side notes I gathered for something BenC asked me ages ago, figured it was interesting enough to post.

I've since figured out a few more specifics but it's nothing all that interesting.

    P.S.

I recently read someone mention Dragonbone weapons have bleed damage now but I don't think that's correct.  It's likely a mod that fixed them.

Has anyone made a build based of this? Just wondering.. But anyway good job!

Bleed damage isn't really substantial enough for my liking, but there are a few builds here that have used it.

Can someone help with my reading comprehension?   I wonder if I'm reading this bit right:

"An unlimited number of 'Bleed timers' can be stacked.  The belief that only one per material type is allowed is completely false.  If the enemy can survive 100 attacks, you can stack 100 bleeds"

Does this mean that the bleed timer doesn't reset upon subsequent attacks?  I.e., if I hit an NPC and begin a 3-second bleed, and then hit them again within that 3 seconds, both bleeds will be active?

I'm 99% sure this is the case, but just want to be certain.

Yes. They will have two separate "active effects" of Bleed Damage which are totally independent of one another.

Thanks!  I'm on PC, but bleed damage is rather awkward to test for.

    bleed damage is highly underrated
