In-Game Tip: The definitive treatise on item duplication

Three ways, there are. All return items to their original state. (removes player smithing and enchantments, but not enchantments on unique items, like Chillrend)

The first way - The path of the dead

    Tested 360

With the ritual stone you can copy items that are innate to a NPC's inventory. Essentially, if you find the NPC with that item in their inventory it can be copied. This method will not copy items placed or reverse pickpocketed onto corpses. The steps are

    1. Kill the NPC in question.

    2. Remove the desired item from their corpse.

    3. Raise them with the ritual stone power.

    4. Go through a loading screen (enter or exit a cave or building).

    5. The NPC should have regenerated the desired item and you can take the second copy of it.

The second way - The path of the fake dead

Hidden by the dawn's guard, some say that this technique was revived by the hearth's fire. Requires a mannequin, not all work, the ones in Hearthfire homes are said to work best. Works for armor pieces.

    1. Enter the mannequin's inventory.

    2. Place the desired armor on the mannequin and wait for it to equip it.

    3. Before exiting the item screen remove the armor.

    4. Exit and reenter the room where the mannequin is.

    5. The armor should have remained on the mannequin, it will regenerate every time you reenter the room. Claim your prize.

The third way - The path of the other

    Tested 360

Requires a follower. Works for all items, but may require repeat attempts.

    1. Drop items on the ground outside.

    2. Command a follower to pick them up.

    3. Enter and exit a cave or building.

    4. When you return to where you dropped the items, they should be both on the ground and in your follower's inventory.

Good luck all! Ask me if you're having troubles. I have used the first and third methods successfully.

It has been a few months, but last I checked, the second method did work. 360
