     The Ebony Shieldwall

Note - I played this on expert and it seemed to work fine, except at lower levels, it picked up at around level 10.

    Backstory:
Growing up in Markath wasn't easy. The constant fear of forsworn attacks, wandering too far out and falling off a cliff. The danger was high, but this danger was what made young Urig Herarsen tough. I worked in a mine as an orphan due to my parents being brutally murdered infront of me by the forsworn. It was on that day that I vowed to always help the innocent and rid Skyrim of the Forsworn filth.
At the age of 10 I found something while mining...Ebony. This ebony is what made me turn into the crazed being that I am today. I begun to mine all the ebony and keep it for myself in secret so that it would not be taken away from me, the ebony had sickened my mind, every minute of every hour of every day I was away from it I was mad but while near ebony I was calm.

I worshipped Talos and at the age of 16, but sadly, somebody found out, if they didn't I don't know what my life would be like today.
" You there!" A shadowy figure exclaimed. " Come with me, and you won't be hurt. " I did as was asked of me and I walked off with this shadow figure. " What is this? "I asked calmly. The figure replied, " Reports say you've been worshipping Talos, this is a punishable offense and we will make an example of you. " I sprinted as fast as my legs would carry me to avoid being executed. My legs carried me to a mountain southwest of Markath. This is where I lived for a long time in the cold wilds, living off the hunt. I turned psychotic
from the withdrawl of ebony and begun to kill to ease my mind. One day many years past the date of my arrival I hunted a bear that took me to a main road where there was the same shadowy figure from the years before. It was a Thalmor, something I failed to noticed before. I was captured and taken to Helgen to be executed with the stormcloaks.
In what I thought was my final moments I remembered the vow I had made to help the innocent, a vow I never fufilled. I once again vowed that if I made it out of here alive
I would fufill my first vow.
Thus begun the adventure of The Ebony Shieldwall.

Charge at your enemies with your shield infront of you, knocking all living things away in your path of destruction, that is however depending on how close you are and how you would like the living to die. If in need of a breather use the dismay shout or battlecry to cause enemies to flee before your voice. Shout your enemies off heights with the classic Unrelenting Force shout if they get to close to your personal space. If you want a little change in weather use the Storm Call shout and cause some aoe damage to those that dare oppose you.

    Roleplaying:
Play as a chaotic neutral type character. Give some gold to a beggar if you feel the need and can spare some coin, help someone retrieve an items, but do it as brutal as possible. Cause chaos wherever you tread and make your enemies tremble at the sight of you. Urig Herarsen is ignorrant, aggressive and arrogant. If somebody dares to question your skill show them that your the boss. Act impulsively without thinking of the consequences and almost always choose the brawl and intimidate option.

    Ebony Withdrawl

This ebony addiction Urig Herarsen has is soul shattering and extremely destructive. It causes him to act as ferocious as he desires and he will always try to kill as much as he can untill he is at ease with himself.

Stages: ( Stages proceed to the next stage every in game week )

Stage 1, Fustration - At stage one Urig is fustrated with everything and will go on a hunt just to kill peaceful things as he is annoyed that he is not at peace with anything, so he feels nothing else should be, so he decides to kill animals that are peaceful such as deer and rabbits.

Stage 2, Impulsive Brutality - At the second stage he will act more impulsive than ever, wishing to kill all things on the battlefield that lays before him. He will slash with his sword and bash with his shield and attack with the sound of his dragonborn voice.

Stage 3, Lycanthropy - As he becomes longer without ebony he will lash out with claws and teeth, letting his inner beast take over his body, murdering everything it sees in cold blood.

Stage 4, Restlessness and murder - At the final stage of ebony withdrawl Urig becomes restless, unable to sleep. Urig will let his werewolf side take control more often than usual and will let it kill everything it desires untill it is satisfied and lets the human side of himself take control in the murder. He will not help people as often unless he sees the chance of a rampage involved in it.

In these stages of ebony withdrawl he will likely worship daedric princes along with Talos as he becomes more malevolent. He still won't do everything they ask of him but he will do some things they ask such as completing Hircines daedric artifact questline or aquiring Ebony Mail.)

When he has ebony armour and is near it regularly he will be his normal self but will still occasionally let his beast take over the battle, but if he loses his ebony that he has regulary his stages will become more destructive and impulsive.

Final Notes: You don't need to roleplay or play it as I did or even do any of the ebony withdrawl stuff but I think it's one of the few things that set it apart from any ordianary sword and board build.

This is my first build so I don't think it's perfect but I enjoyed it so you might too :D

Whoo, glad to see you've finished and posted this mate :D Ah sorry for being late with my reply, gotta be honest with you it's more just being busy on site, I also run the site's Twitter and with E3 and Fallout 76 I've been super busy over there.  Right, so to be clear, I won't be giving this a full breakdown until the end of June so you've got time if you see what others are doing, or take some time to look through more builds and get a clearer picture on some sections. It also means that, this isn't the product that will be judged but the final product.

I will just point out some areas that I think need some work, but won't be too specific yet. To start, the title should be 'Contest Build: The Ebony Shieldwall', while Judged Contest should be one of your tags. Take a look in the Archives and...actually I just realized that we don't actually have an example of mutliple tags...huh strange, I'll fix that but your tags should be structured like this.

Judged Contest, Warrior, Archer, Juggernaut, Blacksmith

(note: You can only have 4 playstyle tags so I just picked the first four for the demonstration, so you'd have to choose between them and Hero/Defender).

Now, I will recommend you check over the Archives because they're clear about how tags are supposed to be written, and what the tags are. At the moment only one of your tags is an actual tag (Judged Contest) while the other three aren't.

Your Backstory, Perks and Skills sections are all pretty good, as is the section breaking down your Race, Stats, Standing Stone, etc. I think you need to shed a little more light on the character's Combat style and the Gameplay, and maybe a bit more in the Roleplaying Section. I really like the idea of Ebony Withdrawl, but I think it'd be nice to have some more rules and checks in place so that anyone playing the build could replicate when they should go into withdrawl. Stuff like that.

I like it man, and if you had fun with it then I'm really glad :D Honestly if this was a normal event or just a normal build I'd be posting more at the moment because it'd be the full critique, but honestly, the build's pretty good for a first time. I think the best part is your idea, it's incredibly interesting and I think it's something you could really work on showing off more to make this a really, really great build .

For starters tags for character building should be labelled like Character Build Warrior or Character Build Juggernaut.

Great build, to be frank I don't know anythng about Markarth and enjoy learning new stuff the concept was great a person going obsessed with ebony was nice.

Okay, thanks for the input! I think I might edit some of it to correct mistakes and add more to it a bit (if that's allowed) but to be honest I wrote this all on a notepad in about two days and copied and pasted most of it then just edited it a bit, but yeah i'll add in those things you said too shed more light on :D

Nice build. Interesting story and roleplay with the ebony addiction. Did the inspiration for this come from something in the game or in something else you read? Also, the quotes you used, just out of curiosity, is it in-game dialogue or did you write them?

In any case, I enjoyed reading this.

Thanks for the feedback Ilanisilver, I made up the quotes myself and the ebony addiction idea came from thinking about the ebony warrior and wondering what it would be like if you turned ebony into something like lead that can change your mind and become addicting (I think it's lead).

Well, that explains it, I’ve never made it to the ebony warrior! But I’ve heard he’s raving and vicious, so yeah that fits. Good idea!

I find it kinda cool that a Talos worshipper would also be addicted to ebony. According to some lore, I never know what they are changing now, Ebony was formed by the drops of Lorkhan's blood that fell upon the earth as Auri-El shot Lorhkan's heart across the sea. The Talos connection to Lorkhan is pretty clear so it's an interesting addiction for a Talos worshipper.

Nice that you got this build up. Good luck. :D
