Respectfully disagree with Noodles. Synths are created by man. They have no mind or spirit of their own They are no different from the PC we play Fallout and Skyrim on. Siri may be able to talk to us but she's limited to what she's been programmed to say. Even assuming artificial intelligence and the ability to "learn" (like Nick, but he has to do data dumps when his hard drive fills up) it's not biologic nor organic. So while you can give credence to them having thoughts, ideas and feelings to the extent that they can, they are not like humans in that they are not "real".

Haha, respectufully disagree with John. Spirit may or may not be real. There's no solid proof of it other than what's been passed via story telling from one generation of people to another over the course of hundreds of years. The mind is theoretically easy to conceptualize: It's an algorithm programmed to learn and store new things as it constantly grows and at the same time makes new decisions based on the accumulated experiences, again memory storing. The true problem when it comes to artificial intelligence, as Phillip K. Dick theorized in Do Androids Dream Of Elcetric Sheep, is emotion - more exactly the lack of empathy for a fellow android. Without empathy, androids are incapable of uniting for a common goal because they are only interested in self survival - as in they do not know better. Therefore, the lack pf empathy is their limitation. But that is not the case of Synths in Fallout 4. Glory is the most obvious example of a synth with artificial and emotional intelligence on the same par as any human's. The badass android achieved empathy by banding together with the Railroad to free Synths from the grasp of the Insititute.
But here's another angle. If there is a God in the real world, aren't humans the living proof that creation can achieve self awareness and emotion? Of course the argument is that humans are not God. No, we are not, but according to religion we are His creation, His children. And isn't it a well known truth that children often surpass their parents? Isn't this what any parent wants from their offspring? To do better, to surpass them in any way possiible?

Daryl, NO!
You are not responding to this while at work!
You will not waste time discussing philisophical questions of existance for creatures that are part of a video game! You have stuff to do. Get back to work!

Humans aren't God you say? Let me quote Nietzsche: "God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?"
Side not. Shouldn't e wait for Legion's article to be posted, before this gets took over by my complex question?

I never mentioned God but my original point remains.
Humans were created by _____; whatever your personal thought process. Even if you are an evolutionist, the monkey was still created. And the Big Bang... still a creation from nothingness. A synth is a byproduct of human invention. Two totally different processes to "the now" meaning they are not alike except in humans manufacturing a maching to look like themselves.
Daryl, amazing self control while at work. Kudos and a +1 from me on that.

It's killing me, dude.
I have been reprimanded for getting involved in an online discussion of the effectiveness of firearms in a zombie apocolypse.
