So, I'm planning to make a sort of Pirate-based build.
These are the stats im thinking of. The Primary Skills are the ones that go in for the "pirate" aspect. Ideally, primary weapons Im thinking would be a Pipe Bolt Action Pistol (Flintlock Pistol), Revolutionary Sword (Pirate Sword), and of course, ideal Big Gun would be the good ol Broadsider. This is going to be the "romanticized" sort of pirate, the rogue-ish, freedom-fighter type. So, im thinking he will be a Minuteman (plus I think the minuteman general outfit will probably be the closest pirate looking outfit).
The Backstory: A freak accident after his ship was attacked by a rival band of pirates has unhinged the pirate, Nathan Hawkins, from his time. The last thing he remembered was falling overboard, and losing conciousness under the water. When he woke up, some strange door was opening in front of him. It was cold, so very cold. For some reason, his body was running to another strange door, a door with a reflection, of Nathan, but Nathan didn't recognize himself, but his body was pulling some lever, only to find a woman, a woman that Nathan didn't recognize, but that Nathan felt...somehow, was a family member...no, a wife, of the person whose body Nathan saw in the glass, the body that Nathan had somehow usurped. As he walked through this strange building, Nathan could feel the memories of the person, Nate, were still here, and sometimes Nathan's body would....respond to those memories, sometimes Nate would come out, and fortunately, this Nate seemed to know how to get out of this building.
The backstory would be a lot cooler/more sensible if we were having some sort of like, Sci-Fi character building contest for Fallout 4 :P but I didnt know if there was anything planned, and I coulnt wait or I'd forget, so.
Anyways, what do you guys think? I'll begin play testing the character in Normal mode with this setup today. If you can think of any weapons or clothes/outfits that would fit with the theme better, let me know.
To note: I play on Playstation 4

Hehe... you just missed the Fallout Sci-Fi event by a couple of weeks. In my experience of playing melee characters you need one of two things to survive: either high endurance or stealth. Since you're playing a pirate, you should put empahis on using the effects from drinking alcohol to your advantage and having a higer luck. And take into consideration that the double barreled shotguns resemble those ancient gun powder pistols a lot!

I was kind of thinking something like a Short Double barrel might fit nicely with the sort of theme. And yeah, i was definitely thinking alcohol would play a big part in it, I mean, there is a reason the Rum is Always Gone :p

Instead send him to one of your settlements and from then onward, you'll have a steady supply of beneficial alcohol every couple of days.Noodles said:Hehe... you just missed the Fallout Sci-Fi event by a couple of weeks. Go to Vault 118 in Far Harbor and there's a Pirate's Hat in the museum room.
It's a unique variant of the Minuteman hat (which I guess could be used until you get to that point of the game)

OK, in the same room as the Pirates Hat, you can pick up a Revolutionary Sword. I mean, what's a pirate without his trusty sword?
You'll want to do the USS Constitution quest of course. If you wanted to go full on with the roleplay, clear out the Wreck of the FMS Northern Star and use it as a base (as a bonus the Agility bobblehead is there). Or maybe use Spectacle Island as a kinda 'Treasure Island'?
I'd also suggest taking Hancock as a companion, as he kinda has that pirate vibe going on.
