Games: Just mindless Violence or Deeper Meaning?

I have been thinking lately about this as of late. Many just view games as ways of mindless violence and to blow off steam... But are there games that can actually make you think (be it intentional or not)? For example, most of us have come to witness the arguments of whether Talos deserves to be worshiped and if the Thalmor are just pure evil... Is that a fluke, or are there games that make you question yourself?

Games that I believe that make you think are Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Ultima 4, (indirectly) Skyrim

Mass Effect and Dragon Age. Both raise a lot of hard moral questions and there is almost always no "good" or "bad" decision.

What I was truly asking is, should games be treated like this or just be games for mindless entertainment? I think both can exist...
