Ingoknin Chapter 3 – Making it to Narzulbur

  • “Lugdul Gorzog, is Bagrak here?”  The Orc guardsmen just nods and motions towards the mine.  Walking through the gate I feel safe, I am at home here in Narzulbur.   “Bagrak, did she go in?”  Orbul, smiles.  “Nin, where have you been, rumors have come from Windhelm, Stormcloaks attacked your village?  Chief Mauhulakh, will want to speak with you, where is Codell, Minnia?”  Orbul always did have a habit of asking more than one question in one breath!  “Where is Bagrak, is she down the mine?”  “Huh, oh yeah, she is. Want me to get her while you’re with Chief Mauhulakh?”  “Yes, would you, tell her it is important and Orbul, please do not say anything yet, but Poppa Codell, Momma Minnia were kill… were… are not with us anymore.”  My eyes burn saying it, my heart hurts.  Orbul shakes her head, runs back into the mine.

The air smells like it is going to snow, the skies are gray.  Chief Mauhulakh was by the fire pit, he is always harassing Kharzu, while she cooks.  They act as a married couple I do not understand why they do not marry!  “Excuse me, Chief Mauhulakh.”  “Ah Nin, I am glad you came, tell me are the rumors we are hearing true?  Did Codell send you?”  Kharzu keeps very quite.  “Chief, yes the Stormcloaks attacked Kynesgrove, on Turdas.“  With that I break down, he allows my tears to flow with no words, just a strong physical sense, with compassion in his being.  “Poppa….   Momma….  were killed, most of the village, even the livestock.  When one of them did approach we were told it was due to someone harboring Imperials.”  Anger builds.  I feel my face heating up, my jaw clenches.   “Nin, this is distressing news you bring.”  “I see fire within you, but what is it that brought you here, did Codell give you something to bring?”  “No, I came to seek advice from Bagrak, before they passed they told me where my mother’s journal was and to find my true calling.  As I was coming here I had a dream, my mother, Sigrid told me I must find a woman, Greir Fair-Sword, and that I must go to the Throat of the World and see the Graybeards.  I have so much unanswered Chief Mauhulakh. ” Chief Mauhulakh rubbed his chin, closes his eyes for a minute, he was in deep thought.  “I will have Bagrak see you, she will accompany you to Greir, Nin, I know where you can find Greir, she is right outside of Dragons Bridge, I will draw you a map.  It is a long journey, you may both take horses.  Sleep here tonight, you will leave first thing in the morning.”  I look over at Chief Mauhulakh, does everyone know this women except me!

“Who is she Chief Mauhulakh?  Why do I feel like I am missing a big piece of this? Why is everyone keeping information from me?”  Chief didn’t answer instead went into his hut and came out with some charcoal and paper he etched out a map handing it over to me he asks.  “Nin, where is Codell’s gear?”  “I have his bow and dagger, the rest I left at home, Ergnin is watching over things.”  “I will need you to send word to him, I will have to go to your home with one of my guardsmen I am looking for something very important to Skyrim, I need this information, only a few of us are aware of what is being planned, with Codell gone, things will need to adjusted. “  “OK” I write off a note from his rolls of paper, I dig for my seal so Ergnin will know it is me.  With confusion in my voice and eyes I ask… “What is this all about?”  “More secrets, I almost feel as though things are moving in directions that I cannot control, who can I trust Chief?” He pats my back.  “Go see Greir, all will come to light.”  I will have this sent in the morning and make my way later tomorrow to Kynesgrove.  Nin, I am old and have lived many years, listen to me, you are very important to Skyrim, to the future of peace over Tamriel, I argued with Codell to speak with you, he said when the time was right, now is that time and Greir will answer many things for you."

Nice one Laurie! Interesting, who is this woman - Greir Fair-Sword...? And it looks like there is something like a conspiracy theory involving Ingoknin! Awesome!
