Friessa - Making The Move

  • A Change Of Scenery

After several days of nursing Faendal was back to full health and we went back to working at the mill together. We joked over our lunch breaks on how glum Sven looked and how he would turn into his crazy mother when he was old. Soon enough Hod told the three of us that a new mill nearby had opened up and that the business we were getting was slowly decreasing, he pointed out that he could not pay the three of us and that one of us had to be let go. He would choose later that evening. I spoke to Faendal about how I had enough coin to begin my search for Morthal, he looked at me and said "you're going to leave aren't you?" I smiled back at him and said yes. We spent the night in the inn drinking and annoying Sven whilst he played songs on his lute.

I spent my last night in the inn and thanked Orgnar for being such a good chef, he gave me an old recipe book he had lying around for my travels, Delphine was happy to see the back of me, I never liked her tone. I told Hod I was leaving as he didn't talk to any of us last night and he said he was sad to see me go, I gave him a firm handshake, well as firm as I could, told him I would be back and visit him, Gerdur and Frodnar, their son, some time. I popped into see the blacksmith, Alvor, and picked up some armour he'd been working on for me. I also bought a slick hunting bow off him.

I knocked on Faendal's door and presented him with this hunting bow and he looked full of joy. He told me I should keep it, I then reminded him of why I was travelling here in Skyrim in the first place; so I didn't need physical weapons. He gladly took the bow and told me we should hunt together someday, in the tundra near Whiterun, I agreed and told him he would here from me by courier at some point.

I made my way to Whiterun coming across little trouble apart from a few wolves, I gladly slaughtered them quickly and efficiently and then skinned the poor sods for their hides which I chucked in my backpack. I decided to stray away from the road as I saw some Imperials which I was tempted to try and kill... There were three of them however and surely it could only go badly, I controlled my anger and went off the road. I saw three warriors fighting a giant and was going to leave them be. However one of them, the archer, shouted at me and asked if I wanted to join in... I didn't want to but it would be rude to say no. I hacked at the great beasts legs whilst the large warrior infront of it took he damage. She told me about her order called the companions and that I should join, I wonder what they would think of someone who can barely pick up a hunting bow...

I saw a group of Khajits outside the walls of Whiterun and asked if they knew anyone called Maiq, sadly they did not, we bartered over some of his merchandise and I picked up 20 lockpicks for several hundred gold, put them in one of the side sections of my backpack and made my way into Whiterun.

As I entered I saw a man in Imperial armour talking to the smith, I hastily made my way past and asked one of the guards where the inn was. "Straight ahead," was what he muffled through his helmet. I made my way into the inn and had a chat to Hulda, the innkeeper, about what their was to do around town. She mentioned there was an alchemist who was looking for an apprentice and I sparked up, it reminded me of Dreas. I met the alchemist, Arcadia and we talked about all different types of potions and poisons. Before we knew it midnight had come, I retired to the inn.

In the morning I returned to Arcadia and spoke some more about her ingredients, she allowed me use of them of which she had a plentiful amount of. Over the next several days I began brewing potions that expanded my knowledge of the ingredients of Skyrim. I thanked Arcadia once I had an understanding of all of them, I asked her where Morthal was and she said north... She apologised and mentioned that she had never left Whiterun in the 20 years of living in Skyrim, then directed me towards the stables.

I admired the fine steeds and was tempted to buy one, however I did not want to travel somewhere that I have no idea of it's location all alone on a horse. I talked to the man who seemed to own a horse and cart, Bjorlam, and asked him if he knew where Morthal was, he replied quickly and asked me if I wanted him to take me there, I gladly accepted his offer. I should hopefully find Dreas' friend soon who can train me.

The muse is with you Jack, I'm gripped. I'm just hoping there isn't an unexpected death in the next part...
